V2 pre-oil or screen filter?

My XDiavel has an oil pickup or pre-filter that is a screen material, which you clean with petro every few oil changes. It is easy to remove (four bolts of a cover plate under the motor) and the liquid gasket seals it back nicely. Is the oil net filter (#42710171a) the equivalent for the V2 and how do you check/clean it (drop the pan?)? Also, is there another screen/filter for the oil pump that needs to be checked/cleaned? I appreciate any info on the subject.

For reference, here is the XDiavel screen filter (#3)

You might be looking for the #89420113B - Mesh Filter Assembly, which is located in the sump. Not sure if the internal filter screen is meant to be removed and cleaned, or if the intent is to replace the entire assembly. The whole assembly is $82 so not too much of a cost to replace the whole thing...

Codex Motorsports also has a WSBK assembly (Machined Oil Sump) with a machined filter piece that appears to be accessible for cleaning. Not cheap $ tho.

You would need to split the case to access the #42710171a oil net filter.

Thanks for the reply. I am accustomed to cleaning the prefilter but the V2 did not appear to have one easy to service. It is strange that the V2 has two screens that are not serviceable and will instead show you why your motor blew up after the fact, lol. In fact, the prefilter screen is where you locate issues before (hopefully) they become major, such as this:

Looks Like A Dryer Vent
plastic gear issue

I wonder how easy it is to drop the sump and check the #89420113B mesh filter. I think I saw something on the 959 forum that indicated it was not too much of an issue, but I could be remembering something else.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah I've seen those post. I'm probably past due for a cleaning on my 899. And I actually just purchased some metal water pump gears and will be installing them this weekend. Trying to avoid the plastic gear mess that others have had.

Go onto DucatiOmaha and check out the parts catalog for an idea of how the sump is assembled. Just a few bolts, but you'll need to purchase some ducatibond to seal it back up.

There is also a PDF shop manual for the older 899 model available for download online that will help with various installations questions. Other than the fairings and swing arm, the bikes are pretty similar.
