I know this sounds absurd but after being on a 160cc scooter for 6 years I wanna get my first motorcycle and I was planning to get the Ninja 650 as my "Beginner" bike when I saw the V2, I currently have my heart set on it and apart from the other Crotch rocket (SuperSport S) I suddenly don't seem to be liking anything out there. Since this is my first time on a 2 wheeler that involves a clutch shifting I really would like the views of some of the V2 and Ducati owners :)

These bikes sure do have a way of capturing our hearts with their looks. They ride as nice as they look.
I’d suggest buying some tools so you can do your own oil changes otherwise maintenance will cost as much as a Porsche

so you're telling me there is actually a possibility of me starting on this? sounds amazing xD

100% yes. But if you test drive and it’s too much of a beast for you, maybe look at a triumph Daytona 675

Young guy at my local Ducati dealer was in the other day looking for his first streetbike. He was on the fence between the Supersport S and the V2.
The Supersport is tamer than the V2 but still sporty and has a more comfortable upright seating position, where the V2 is more of a true sportbike with more power and a more aggressive seating position. I would say think about the kind of riding you will be doing, in the city stop and go traffic and possibly longer distance rides or are you wanting something to ride on weekends in the twisty roads and shorter distance rides? Just a couple things to consider. Either way, stay with the Ducati brand if you can afford it, you’ll be happy with either bike. Just my 2 cents

I am happy with getting either of the 2 but more inclined towards the V2 but soo many comments on reddit about not getting either of these as my first bike have given me second thoughts :p

I'd consider something smaller. You're not just getting into something with a manual clutch, you are increasing horsepower 10-15 fold.

6 years experience riding anything is nothing to sneeze at, but you are getting into more hp, more torque, more gyroscopic effect and more danger.

Maybe a CBR300R or Ninja 400... cost around 3000-4000 USD, ride for a year to help familiarize you then trade it on the Ducati you like.

start with a ninja 400 or ktm 390. Easier to learn to wheelie or ride thats not going to be very expensive to fix!!!!
I have number of friends who still ride 250cc or motards for the fun and have their Ducatis for track or weekend rides.

Being on a farm I grew up riding and always had off-road bikes.
I had my ninja 650 for a year to get used to road riding then got my 1299 6 months ago.

No way would I wanna learn on a panigale - the cost of a mistake (financially) might set you back as much as one of those smaller learner bikes.
Personally I’d get something to bridge the gap for 6-12 months and in that time you’ll start seeing some used v2’s that still have warranty appearing for sale.

someone should mention.....take a training course, getting a bike that fits YOU, buy real non-squid riding gear, price insurance, watch crash videos before you ride....

Get the V2 and good gear, stay away from Icon and other crappy brands. Also good boots and gloves. Most places will discount the price of the gear when you buy the bike. If they won’t use your phone to bring up Revzilla and tell them match the prices, or you’ll get the gear another place. If you plan to keep it a while get the extended Ducati warranty, and stay away from some off brand one.

You have been bitten the bug and have good taste in bikes I must say. When deciding about what bike to get, remember to make the shift in your thinking to realize you are in control of the bike. It will only do what you tell it to do. An MSF class is a good idea though.

I sure was in the market looking for a Ninja 400 to start on everything was sorted just went to the Ducati dealership to check for some gear for a friend and omg when I saw the V2 and the SuperSport suddenly I didn’t want a Ninja 400 anymore
