I have been looking at some things about the V4R models and I know that the bottom of the tank is exposed. I also know that some companies make carbon covers for this piece. if you have a biposto model, it appears that the cover can be bolted into place using the bolts from the passenger seat pegs but if you have a monoposto, like with a V4R, you would have to glue it or secure it with double sided tape. Someone please correct me if this is wrong.

Here is my question for those of you who own a V4. What happens if you do nothing? Does it get quite thrashed? Secondly, what if you used something like the thicker paint protection film for lower skirt and bumpers? Would that be be enough or not enough?

I'm just trying to gauge this from the real world experience of you all. Thank you.

The R does have the four mounting holes where you'd bolt on a tank protection solution. You'd just need to source bolts as the R does not come with any of the "passenger" hard parts (plastics, seat, pegs, fasteners).

You could check the parts fiches with Ducati Omaha to see if the subframes are identical. I'd bet they are.

I just ordered the CF cover. I think it is the cleanest looking solution. The glue is removable if you ever want to undo it, as a piece of removable material is stuck to the tank that the glue then goes on.

I plan to use removable 3M auto trim tape to hold mine on.

My tank already has two small stone chips in 650 miles.

Evotech installed....the under tail, tail lights, plate all look sand blasted after a few rides...

Thank you all for the responses so far.

How does the tank look under the Evootech? Is it enough to stop the blasting or do you need something that's more of a full cover? Would Xpel be good enough?

Good real world feedback. thank you.

I think the Evotech stops the larger stuff from hitting the tank, I need to take it off one of these days and see what it looks like under there.

I have both the ilmberger carbon cover and the evotech cover as well. it just looks aesthetically pleasing to have both.

All of these solutions look great and I may add the evo-tech. Honestly I have never noticed any damage or marks on the tank underneath. As others have mentioned my tail light looks like it has been etched a little. I have a tail-tidy but normally run track days with it off.

I think I see a small chip in the bottom corner exactly where I have one. Ok, or maybe reflection or lint.
