V4R Oil Leak Fun and Clutch...

Sucks to hear about more issues with your R. Hopefully there is some resolution soon.

As an aside, I think I have a clutch cover, two pressure plates(one w/o bearing) and two spring retainers, from an S. I'm sure, even with shipping from TX, USA we could come up with a number that would be cheaper than new parts from the dealer.

Ooof... That's a gut punch. Sorry to hear about all the problems. Running a V4R for it's intended purposes seems like a bear. Maybe someone on the forum would want to do a swap. Just don't show them this video...

Sorry to hear how it’s going with the clutch. I have an S fitted with a dry system. I have the stock wet system at my house, it’s brand new, 0 miles/km on it. I’d be willing to cut you a decent deal on it if you want to go to a wet system.

I’ve been pretty happy with my dry system from a performance perspective. I’ve swapped out the discs at 2500 miles as preventative measure and now have 3500 track miles on this new set and it’s still holding strong. Only thing I can’t stand with dry and makes me want to go back wet is all the noise the clutch makes, it’s annoying. Some say it’s “Ducati character” though and think it’s cool. For me it’s just an annoying part.

The dry clutch on my V4R made it to 1300miles before it gave up on the first session of the day, I now carry an extra set of friction plates so my track day isn't lost.

Damn man that’s early early to have to replace it. I carry an extra set in my trailer as well just in case.

Do you use your clutch often on the street? I almost never use it even on the street. I also have engine braking set to low as well so that may help.

Its track only and only use it pulling in and out of the pits. Initially I played around with EBC on setting 1 and 2 but after some moments with locking the rear on corner entry, I leave it on 3 now, so that could be it, idk.

My EBC is at 3 (lowest braking), and only used on track. If it was just the plates, I could happily live with it....

What was the exact problem stated by the dealer with the clutch? I had a issue with the Clutch and the dealer said it spun a bearing in the clutch. But when I seen the repair order there was no bearing replacement. All Ducati sent them was a new clutch pack and basket. There was no bearing on the warranty repair order. I think the dealer priced it out to 4500 dollars to repair it. But Ducati repaired it at no cost and those two parts are not 4500. Ex I purchased a spare basket and clutch pack just so I have one extra on hand at all times.

Ex. Star Twins is where I ordered from the Basket for 246.08
Clutch Pack 300 bucks for the Ducabike set

So someone was trying to basically make a .... ton of money for a BS repair...

I had put the DP open clutch cover on and besides it being significantly louder I could hear the plates rattling when leaning right and off throttle. It was very distracting…have put the OEM gold cover back on.
