Titanium Ti 1 is the first used from the four commercially pure titanium grades. Its the softest and most ductile of these grades. Ti 1 titanium has excellant formability. It has excellent corrosion resistance and high impact toughness.

Aircraft grade titanium T5 is used in making aircraft parts such as engine parts, aircraft frame parts, marine parts, surgical implants, and hydraulic tubing. Aircraft grade titanium is corrosion resistant and has good formability. T5 titanium (6AL-4V) is alloyed titanium which has 6% aluminum and 4% vanadium. Its considered a medium strength titanium.

One of my businesses is also selling titanium and stainless steel ophthalmic eye instruments. So we deal with companies that make instruments to our specs using titanium and stainless steel.

Uh ok well folks can get a general overview of the properties of different grades of titanium and their uses from Wikipedia. Not sure what that has to do with the specs on the exhaust in question?????

Here is a general rule of thumb with regard to sourcing titanium alloys. If you are not getting it from TMS or Sandvic or it does not ship with traceable documentation certifying the material then its Chinese. This is especially important for you guys buying fasteners. If it’s a critical, load bearing application, make sure you know what you are getting. If the supplier has legitimately certified material, they will make available the traceable documentation. Mettec, TMS and Sandvic offer documentation upon request. Storm and Akrapovic use certified material with traceable lot numbers as well.

Only buy from an ISO certified manufacturer. That way, you know the materials can be tracked to said source. Chinese crap 100% not ISO. lol.

Hello, all from down under. I just come across this thread while surfing the internet and thought I would clear up the question about the availability of removable baffles for the 959,1199,1299 Vandemon under-seat exhaust systems. Yes, we do offer removable baffles as an optional extra to lower noise from about 108Db to 102 DB. This came about as a result of a track day rider in the Netherlands being pinned for excessive noise by track noise metres. The baffle simply slips into the "'Y'' pipe and mufflers then encompass the baffles as well as hold the baffles in under spring tension. This feature is simple to fit and remove taking only 10-15 minutes, which is also ideal for those wanting to stand out less on there commute.
He's in Australia, give him some time to respond haha

never to be heard from again

They ship from Australia. Look at the welds:

I have been discussing this topic with some people that know more about overseas manufacturing than I do. They all said no way was it made in China. That welds like that do not come outta China.

The material may very well be sourced from there I don’t know. It’s a exhaust system. It’s all Ti and reasonably priced. That much I know. I agree and would be very concerned about material if it was connecting rods or bolts that hold my swing arm on but it’s a exhaust system.

Akra writes Ti on the side of their part stainless part Ti Slip on cans. I am more concerned with .... like that than where some Australian sources his Ti

Not everyone is comfortable dishing out $5k for a Akra Ti system in today’s economy. Most SBK hand made systems are $10k. VD is a very nice exhaust for the money. They look good sound good and work good

*and there’s one for sale in the classifieds right now

: )

As with any business my suppliers are my corporate intellectual property and thus providing an ISO suppliers code to validate the origin of our materials best serves my competitors interests for which no company shares unless they are stupid

Great reply Vandemon#1 and thanks for solidifying the fact that your materials are in fact made in Asia. First, sourcing of Titanium unlike the 1960's isn't much of a secret. Everyone knows where everyone else gets their material. The only secret here is the one that you want to keep and that is that you are sourcing Asian Ti. Best case, Japan but more likely, a little further west. So go ahead #1, without disclosing your secret supplier, what is the country of origin that your tubing is sourced from?
