video of my first track day at the Ridge

Great vid, looks like you had a fun time. Had a real blast on mine at Val de Vienne a few weeks back. Can't say I noticed the traction light as much a yours though, but then I wasn't really looking at the dash, just the blurry scenery

How did you get on with the shift lights? I missed a few shifts and hit the limiter a couple of times. The shift lights could do with being a bit brighter, as could I. I'm used to high reving I4's and my Daytona triple, so I guess its just a period of adjustment. The Daytona has a set of blue shift lights that almost blind you, a good thing when you're otherwise occupied. :D

I didn't notice the traction light until I watched the video afterwards so maybe you should try goproing yourself next time. Also I had the traction on 5 so it was frequently coming on. I thought the shift lights worked great though, no complaints here.

Great vid Bucci! I can't wait to get the Pani out to the ridge for the next DucSea track day, I just need to buy an SUV and a trailer to haul her out there next month.

Couple of questions --

I saw you were riding in 2nd a lot around the track. Is 1st to jumpy for your taste around the slower corners or were you just getting better transitions from 2nd?

I also saw a lot of short shifts around 9 and 10k. Did you ride an 1098/1198 before this? I ask because I had an 1198 SP before the Pani and I still forget many times that I have that extra 1000 rpm to play with haha.

As far as I am concerned there is no need to drop down in to first but then again i wasn't out there trying to break any lap records. It was my first time ever on the track with a bike let alone one that costs my whole bank account haha so I was trying to take it a little easy and just get acquainted with the bike. next track day will most likely be different. As far as short shifts are concerned kinda has to do with not riding at a speed past my skill level with a bike that is too expensive to drop/crash. I'll go faster once the bike gets some more scratches on it :D

Dropping down through 'the Ridge' is really jerky in first gear. Far too jerky in my opinion. I never go below 2nd at the Ridge.

I'm Jealous! Congrats on breking in your track virginity. I've only done one day on one of my last bikes('05 gixxer 1K) but it was by far the most fun/intense feeling I've ever experienced. I'm contemplating hitting the same place that I went the first time, NJMP.

On a side note...am I the only one that leans my head from side to side when watching track videos when mounted like that?
