With much time looking at the headlamp,it start to make sense why the lens of the headlamp tapered downward toward the runner. It seems to form a "funnel shape " with the lower-wing intake to channel air to the runner.
R1 is slightly different, it uses projector type which is trying to keep it small and use less of the frontal area not interfering with the air flow....

Very nice... dual function component, similar to the front subframe being the air-box too.remind me of the 916 whose the fuel tank is part of the air-box.

clever designers...:p

Standard (halogens)

S and TRI (LEDs)

Beautiful front end. I wonder if u
Can get the led's for the standard
Model

I don't see why just they can't just add the LED in the first place.....dropping almost $19,000 on a bike is pretty hefty for some people (like me).

LED's are sweet. From what I hear, though, you will not be able to add LED's to the standard model.

headlamp beam lights

For the headlamp beam, i was under the impression Audi is with halogen/xenon bulbs (model dependent)....
are you referring to DRLs?...

Because they can get folks to spend 5K more to get the lights!

Its not just the lights. Better (lighter) wheels, electronic suspension, different fairings ...

The other advantage of LED's is they use much less power than halogen bulbs. I wonder if the alternator is smaller/lighter on the S/Tricolore?

Who needs lights anyways put race bodywork and hit the track lol.

I do like the look of the LEDs but am sticking to the standard model not worth the money.

Don't forget the Ohlins upgrade is on the forks, rear shock and steering damper as well as the electronics on the S. Leds front and rear, forged wheels, aero fairing and carbon front fender. Well worth the extra $5k.

I agree. worth the extra 5k

Looking up close at the LED model on the IMS show circuit, the Hi beams were very bright and just 5 LED's on either side. I wonder what the wattage is for each of the LED's that they use.

has anyone else noticed that in some youube clips the LED seem to "flash"
or am i just seeing things ?
i have noticed it in a few of them

on order
1199 S
CF kit
Termis
$ paid in full
cant wait !!

LED's don't flicker, so i don't think its a side effect of the camera framerate. I'd guess that Ducati have some way of making then flash like the F1 safety cars. They probably modded the headlamp units used in Abu Dhabi, but if someone does work out how to switch this on for production bikes, I'm not sure it would be good for the long term health of the high output LED's. You're not going to be popular on the road or at the track with these on either. Looks cool though.

Its an optical illusion, caused by the frequency/frame-rate of the camera recording the action :)

Same effect when a video camera points at a TV and you see horizontal striping scrolling across the screen.

Not sure it is, LED's shouldn't flicker like a TV that has a 50/60hz refresh cycle.
