Good evening,

After a fall, I had to change the clutch cover of my motorcycle and some repairs to the fairing.

It stood still for about 3 months and now, after being fixed, it is making a strange noise when working ...

Attached photos of her damaged and the video with the noise she is making.

Could anyone tell me what it can be? It sounds like metal to metal.

Thanks.

Have you pulled the cover and done a visual inspection to ensure integrity of the components? There is a dampening plate inside the cover as well. Check that

Yes, I inspected the components, cleaned everything and put the new cover on.

I put new oil, new filter and new battery.

Do you think that shrapnel from the clutch cover has found its way into the mix? There's a lot going on beneath the timing cover. What happens when you pull the clutch lever in? Any difference?

I took off the clutch cover and removed the oil to see how it was, and at the bottom there were pieces of gold metal.

I don't know if they are pieces of the cover of the old clutch, if anyone knows what it can be, I appreciate it.

That basket for sure needs to be replaced. That’s a lot of material in that motor. I would pull the whole clutch as and check the rest of the piece for integrity and that motor is going to have to be cleaned out

The basket obviously warrants replacement. Since that entails removing all of the clutch components, that'll provide an opportunity to inspect and replace any additional components which may have sustained damage, but don't stop there. It may well be worth the time and effort to pull the timing cover and inspect the water pump drive and idler gears, the vertical camshaft chain tensioner and chain, the primary drive sprocket, etc. If nothing is found amiss, you'll only be out the cost of a tube of gasket sealant. Plan to drop and clean the oil pan as well. Once the pan has been removed, remove the mesh filter and blow it clean, aiming a jet of compressed air into the top of the assembly and allowing any debris to exit from the bottom. Place a clean shop rag beneath the bottom of the mesh filter and you'll be able to see what's been expelled. Needless to say, replace the oil filter. Between the mesh filter and the oil filter, virtually all particles (large and small) should have been captured before being pumped through the engine. With a bit of luck, your biggest cash outlay may simply be for a replacement basket (a couple hundred dollars pre-owned).

Good night friends,

I did the procedure of removing the crankcase and cleaning the mesh filter, and there were actually several pieces that I believe are from the old clutch cover, which prevented the flow of oil in the engine, which caused the strange noise in the engine.

I removed the new clutch cover and plates to see if there was any trace of metal or dirt, but luckily, it was very clean ...

finally, I bought the glue for the pan oil and put it in place. Waiting 24 hours to replace the oil and see the result.

Once the pan has been removed, remove the mesh filter and blow it clean, aiming a jet of compressed air into the top of the assembly and allowing any debris to exit from the bottom.

Thanks for the advices man, tomorrow I'll show the final result.

The mesh filter did its job, and the oil filter has probably captured anything beyond that. The pictures suggest that the timing cover should still be removed nonetheless. When you dropped the bike, the oil in the crankcase (and any debris) was allowed to pour from the crankcase through the oil return passage just beneath the clutch assembly and circulate/pool around internal components on the right-hand side of the bike. Based on what you've found so far, there's a better than average chance that you'll find additional debris with the timing cover removed. The clutch components checked okay. The pressure plate wasn't damaged, nor were the control pin, bearings, circlips, etc., correct? The friction and driven plates were removed and checked okay... no debris was found inside of the drum and/or basket, correct? The Belleville washer wasn't broken, correct? I'm asking about the clutch components because one picture showed what appeared to be minor abrasions around the pressure plate's out diameter, suggesting that it may have suffered from the fall as well. Only you know the severity of the impact. What happens when you operate the clutch lever and observe the movement of the pressure plate? Does it move smoothly outward when the lever is depressed and smoothly return upon release? If all of the clutch components can be verified as good, then the basket may be the only item which requires replacement. It alone may be responsible for (and explain) the odd noise coming from the bike, especially since the noise is cyclical and the primary drive sprocket is turning nearly two revolutions for every one turn of the driven basket.

my faith in Ducati engineering has been restored.

cool thread, sucks for the OP @andrebugalski but it’s nice to know that these bikes can withstand
It’s also cool that the OP posted asking for help and was able to resolve with his own hands!

post up some more pictures of your beautiful bike
