It took a while to get the system dialed in, but it works perfectly now. I think I have about four track weekends of practice on it now. This spring has been very wet; only one track weekend this year.
You can lock-up the rear with the foot lever alone; but as designed, you cannot lock-up the rear with the thumb brake without activating the front brake. (Which turns out to be a good thing.)
The thumb brake is best used for its intended purpose, changing the geometry when entering a chicane, or if you are running wide when exiting a corner, some mild trail-braking, or to prevent a wheelie when cresting a hill (or to control a wheelie).
That said, last time out I found myself starting to use it in heavy braking situations (e.g. at the end of straight before dropping into a corner) and it is amazing how well using both front and rear brakes contributes to reducing the braking distance required (thus, enabling braking later). I know that sounds obvious; I could also do that with the foot lever before I installed the system, but I never had the feel to effectively apply the rear brake without putting too much braking into the rear.
My goal this summer (if the rain ever stops) is to become more proficient in its use in a variety of applications.

This diagram shows the fork-mount; but, the fork-mount does not work on the S or R models (not sure about the base model) because the fork tube is tapered and there is not enough room to attach the bracket AND get the correct positioning on the bar. At least that was my experience.

So, this makes me curious - on the V2, I find the rear braking power to be quite poor. Is this normal? What would improve the rear brake’s stopping power?

Try different pads.
You could also adjust the electronic braking control to tap into the the engine compression braking when back-shifting into a lower gear prior to a corner.

As a result I hardly use the rear brake. Thanks for those with suggestions. What brand of pads do you like?

I use Brembo Z04 pads (racing compound). Excellent braking power and a progressive feel. Expensive

I absolutely love Vesrah SRJL-XX pads for the front.
Now for rear brakes ONLY you can also play with size of friction material on the pad to achieve desired braking force. What I mean by saying this is you can grind / bevel pad material to reduce friction surface thus reduce braking force.

The rear brakes on the Multistrada are kind of poor as well. I was going to try some up spec Brembo pads.

Hey not sure I should get these anodized black anymore...

What do YOU think?

GOLD?

or RED?

Looks like one of the Barni built VFT Racing SBK engines and Storm Termi pipe. Did you get the engine zero time or does it have test KMs? Looks great man. Any plans for the suspension, brakes etc?

Suspension maybe next season run out of money
