I have a 2020 special addition V4S essentially, though it has the fairings of the 2019 bikes…also have the carbon fibber year subframe for exhuast attachment purposes.

I’m currently running the full titanium factory race version Akropovich.

If money were no object, but getting enough of a performance improvement over what I currently have to make it worth it….what exhaust would you get.

As aside I’m probably gunna get the Woolich ECU tuning package to tune properly.

No alternate exhaust is going to be enough of an improvement to warrant the cost. OEM to aftermarket sees pretty decent gains, but aftermarket to aftermarket isn't gonna see much. If you're chasing raw performance nothing will beat the SBK system (which is what I'm assuming you mean by factory race system) you have with a proper tune.

That’s the one I have…Ducati describes it as their race exhuast but I doubt it’s the SBK version

Oh yeah that definitely isn't the SBK version. IIRC there's a few exhausts that can produce more peak power than it. The Motocorsa race team said they made better peak power with the FM Project system but a more race-usable power range with the Termi and Akra systems. But it's all splitting hairs at that point with riders/teams trying to squeeze every last pony out of their machines.

Akra full vs any other exhaust system is a pointless endeavor if you’re looking for more power. I’d be doing head work instead of replacing exhaust with another aftermarket set.

Head work in my experience is as much art as it is science, you need somebody very experienced that isn’t figuring it out as they go along or just thinking that a bigger bore by itself means better.

Who in the US is good with head work on these bikes?

Most of the reputable shops that work on bike heads all know it’s not just about boring out the ports. Most will actually add epoxy into the runners to smooth things out and increase velocity

Danos performance, CA
Bauce Racing, NJ
KWS motor sports, SC

I have a head with Danos right now. Nice guy too.

just the basics would likely yield some decent HP gain.

Like Brad said, the "real" sbk pipes are all designed to work with the rest of the system (cams, fueling head work) I would stick with the exhaust you have. Its plenty . As you know head work can range from cleaning up the ports to $$$$$. Just not necessary unless you are chasing something. If I need anything done to the heads, its Motorapido.

Yeah I doubt you’ll get much from a port and polish on these heads…and I don’t want to mess with that trick ducati valve train

The one area I’m confident that Ducati is getting just about everything that can be gotten out of is the heads

Would be cool to get one of these engines to rev to R levels though

I’d be willing to spend a decent chunk to make that happen

Simple, shoot an email to Motorapido and tell them you would like them to build you a 2022 spec SBK engine. The will send you some info, you will then send them a wire and when the motor is done, they will ship it. Doesn’t get easier than that.

The R revs to 16k since it has titanium valves and rods, plus the crank is 2lb lighter in the R. Works great for the R but wouldn’t make sense in a base/s since your max power is around 13k whereas the R peak power is at over 15k. There is no point in spinning up high on the 1103cc motor since you’re just losing power anyway as you get that high up in revs.

Yeah but if you were going to tune those heads properly you could open up the top end power.

Get more lift from the valves or put bigger valves on machines heads and you can raise the power band so it will keep producing power at higher rpm’s

Unless it’s running out of fuel not air…but that’s correctable too…would actually be easier to fix if it runs out of fuel not air above a certain rpm

It depends what you define as 'more power', or more specifically, where.

There are two basic exhaust designs, short ones (Akrapovic) and long ones (Spark and Termi underneath systems).

The short ones produce more peak power, and the long ones more midrange power.

And no matter how much of a hero you are, more midrange will drop your lap times more effectively than peak.

This is true in theory. For a faster bike a broader (more power under the curve) power band is required respectively, but that power has to be manageable. A fair comparison would require each to be tuned on the bike and tested for power and “feel”.

As amateurs with limited data and recourses, we’re going to go for what appeals to us aesthetically… let’s be honest [emoji23].

Ok I’ll speak for myself, I would get spark because I like the way it looks and sounds and then budget permitting I’d get the termi to compare. As far as I know those two are the only “wsbk” exhausts that are obtainable.

Oh, there’s also sc project and maybe some others [emoji2369]

I would get the Spark wsbk replica exhaust. From a purely visual observation it looks like it would make a lot of top end power because it's so short. It also looks bad-ass.

Thing is, I've seen pricing vary from around $6,500 to $10,000.

I ordered the Woolich ECU tuner yesterday

And just ordered this exhaust…probably a largely irrational nominally useful purchase but I can’t help it hahaha

They had me at 3D printed Inconel Headers lol

My Porsche has those so there is an affinity….now my Porsche and Ducati share something lmao

Thank for the tip
