What's your riding mode (wet, sport, race)

That would actually make sense and is worth some experimentation.

The electronics package is supposed to be more pro-active on the 1199, so rather than wait for wheel spin, it may soften power delivery earlier with a higher DTC setting.

You might be right although surely that's the point of 195hi/lo - to give you a choice on power delivery. I would have expected DTC to purely influence TC and have no effect on a map until a disparity between wheel speeds exists. I would also have expected the DTC light to illuminate when the system was having any input. Something else to play with this summer I guess :)

Poor French!

Not so poor (well at least not me and I am not French). Today I will get the Termi slipon installed and a new map loaded. Bike will have full power. The Ducati dealer is doing this. Same with the Diavel, the Termi system came with a new ECU and full power. This is why I want to have the Termi decals removed.

I believe most of the bikes in France have full power (except BMWs, they are difficult to fix). For example on the French Yamaha FZ1 forum the longest thread is about doing the trick to get full power. Easy on Yamaha R1 and FZ1s.

I used to leave it in race mode at the track but I got sick of fighting the bike at high lean angles and feeding in the gas. Too hard to be smooth with that map and I was wasting time fighting the bike.

Switched it over to 195Lo and it smoothed out the throttle map and I can feed in the throttle earlier.

After the upmap it made 195Hi a bit better but I still think its glitchy as you first pickup the throttle.

On the street I just leave it in sport mode with 195Lo. I have also turned down the EBC setting by 1.

me too for the street, just on 195 low/sport.

Sport when no traffic if traffic is bumper to bumper and wether lousy then Wet.

I'm thinking for long distance wet 120 might get you farther.

I tried this when I 1st got the bike traveling up and down 95S. My gas mileage was a little worse. Maybe because the bike needed more power to maintain my 80mph+ average.

you also wonder how much of this is bravado vs reality ?

Now, bikes coming into dealerships may not be as reflective of the enthusiast crowd we have here - but if you check out the modes of the 1199 bikes coming into dealerships, out of a sample of 10 bikes, you get 3 on wet, 6 on sport lo, and maybe 1 on race.

So there are plenty of people who ride on "wet mode" when its not actually wet, but who on this board is going to say they ride on wet mode ??

Can someone clear this up for me. Is the throttle responce in sport mode 195hi,the same as race mode 195hi?!

If I change all parameters in race mode exactly the same in sport mode, will there be any differences?!

thanks in advance

I'll chime in for wet mode.
I actually enjoy switching around between them but one thing I like about wet mode is if I get a little stretch I can run it up thru the revs more and hit the red line.
In sport and obviously race at the top of first gear you are well on your way to "ludicrous" speed (space balls) and some jail time if you get caught.
Plus it's fun to switch to sport or race and feel the power bumb.
Another point, not so many years ago 120 hp was considered big league!
Just off top of my head isn't that about what a 916 or 996 had?
Everyone seemed to love 120 power then.

Sport Hi here!!:)
Although in the wet I do change it to wet....fitting a set of pilot road 3 for my alps trip...hopefully that'll give me better wet traction if needed!!

I've customised mine slightly.

RACE - Track or fast roads, 195hi, EBC 3, DTC 2, ABS 1.
SPORT - Day to day road riding, 195hi, EBC 2, DTC 4, ABS 2.
WET - When it's wet, modes left as standard.

I'll sometimes use wet on the motorway to help with fuel consumption. Had to get back across France last year when BF went on strike, we did some experimenting and found WET mode gives you another 6-8 miles per tank.

When it's wet (after it eventually arrives) my R will be wrapped in a warm blanket on a stand in the garage.
