Just as the title says. I have never payed close to MSRP on a car, When buying a 1199, do you pay MSRP or is there room to negotiate on price?

You got nothing to lose to negotiate. Worse case scenario, you walk out the door without dropping a dime.

Still a hot bike, MSRP + Tax and License seems like the going rate. Definitely no no on freight and setup.

Because I was a repeat customer, they gave me a break on the price without my even asking, maybe (and I got the first base model they got in). But I think I'm lucky in that I've got a great dealer.

With riding season ending, 2012 model panis, you might be able to negotiate a bit, certainly doesn't hurt to try. But the panis got here late so hard to say. You also might consider buying one that someone bought and decided not to keep, been a few screaming deals on here.

If you are dead serious and ready to buy PM me and I will work you a deal. No Im not a dealer either, but to answer your question - YES there is some room!

I'm not looking for this season. I'm in New England and the winter is right around the corner so I'm planning for next spring. In the spring, I'm doing ether a 2013 BMW M5 or a 2013 BMW 550 M-Sport X drive and a 2013 Panigale S. Just trying to come up with a plan. Does anyone know the invoice for the 1199 S???

the u.s. economy is going to be in tank by spring 2013, it's not going to be practical or even make sense to buy those "toys" while everything is falling apart all around you; however, ymmv.

imho lol :)

Isn't the tank where it already is??? Gee gosh wally....where's it headed?

There's been a lot said about this subject on this forum and it all depends on your dealer - some offer deals, some don't. Shop around if you have the option close to you.

You know your own situation, but you've got a better chance of getting a great deal on a leftover 12 in the next few months than you do on a new on the floor 13 in the spring.

This is sound advice. Much better chance of getting a deal when the riding season is almost over and sales are slowing waayy down.

And the way I understand it, is that unlike other brands, with Ducati the dealer has to actually purchase the bike. So the dealer owns it. Meaning the dealer REALLY wants to get rid of what they currently have, especially with the cost of these bikes. But I imagine with such a bike, local market will determine if dealer is going to move off of MSRP. ALWAYS try. Since the dealer owns it, there is nothing they "can't" do, only what they would rather not do.

No I think they floor plan just like other bikes, I could be wrong, but that's my understanding.
