When horror stories become reality

Well I must be a damn fool. Ducati denied the repair. I called headquarters last night and they are looking into the case. This doesn't mean they are going to take care of it but I will say the gentlemen on the phone seemed more willing to take care of me then the Service manager at my local dealer.

Okay after further review I think that ducati is misunderstanding what happened and that is there reason for denial. I believe the service manager didn't explain that the bolts would of had to come loose before they could of bent. It sounds like he just stated the the kickstand bolts cracked the engine case due to stress, which I would even agree wouldn't be eligible for warranty.

Well great news. After contacting Ducati they agreed to fix the bike. Weld the cracks sand them retap the bolt holes and fix her up!!! I wasn't super thrilled about it being repaired VS replaced but oh well as long as it looks good and it works.

Rode the piss out of it last night and this morning. Had it sitting outside at work and started doing some inspecting. Now she's leaking oil right from that area and I'm heartbroken once again because it just sat in the shop for damn near a month(with no loaner) and Now its probably going to do that again. I'm curious what Ducati is going to do about fixing it or whatever. The bike wasn't leaking when I brought it in so I can only assume that they drilled to far when retapping the bolt holes in the case.

Well this really blows makes me think I should go buy a 5,000 bike and say .... it.

@claymore thanks Claymore that's the one lesson I didn't learn out of this whole experience...

While I'm at it I will check every fastener on the bike before every ride just like you buddy!

Lol. That would be a great idea, but you could just start with normal vigilance. You must be totally out of feel with your bike for the side stand issue to have progressed the way it did. Next time your front wheel might drop off at speed. :p
