Any hint on when Ducati are planning to replace the 1199 and on what they are planning to build? Im almost done trading my 12 S for a 14 R but I would feel bad if Ducati release a brand new superbike in 2015... In that case I would wait... My dealer has no Idea when the next gen will come out, so I ask here, maybe someone knows something about it! Thanks

How long did the 1098/1198 run for? 2007-2011? Might be '17 or '18 before the Pani gets replaced if you go by that measure. In the meantime you'll be missing out on years of batshit-crazy fun on a Panigale R. DO EEET!!! :)

I'd imagine SL features will trickle down in the next 12-18 months, along with a new paint scheme and / or some other flash. But it's going to be quite some time before the Panigale is replaced--it'll also be some time before the performance of a '14 R will be eclipsed.

I can only hope that DWC will become a retrofittable upgrade for us lowly non SL owners...

I don't think it will happen because the SL has a whole new set of sensors on it that aren't on the other bikes.

Its way past needing a revamp...Aprilia is really struggling sales wise...so maybe they are short of R&D funds??? But they need to do something....
MotoGp is going to cost them...

I'm biased but do believe the 14 R is the move to go with here. I don't think you'll have any regrets as the machine is sensational and unlikely to have a successor for some time. Good luck with whatever you decide.

if you wanna wait : 15 R ! it s gonna be much closer to the SL and might surpise us all as it will be the hom-bike for the 15 WSBK rules... apparantly they 're owrking hard on it...still : full scale new model . don't think so.. the Pani is here to stay for another 10 year.. they used trellies for how long? since 60's?

don't expect redesign on such scale for when it is really used up...

don't wait for the 150kg 220 bhp bike.. it will never come... its just not affordable..

but why would you want to wait.... ridden an R yet? :)

That will be interesting to see the 2015 R if they're trying to make it closer to the SL. How much more do you think it will cost than a '13 or '14 R?

Short of gravity-defying bike levitation lowside-prevention voodoo...or maybe 2WD, any new features that come out on these bikes on top of what's already present in the '13R will be beyond my ability to exploit to a degree sufficient to warrant buying another bike. Like forever. Of course...I may see a new bike and say "oooh purty!" and buy that, but it won't be for some incremental technical improvements over what I already ride.

There's no way this bike will be updated before the 6 year mark. It's already so far ahead with electronics and weight that there's really no legitimate reason for Ducati to spend millions of dollars on a new model. I'm thinking summer 2018. Look at Yamaha, Aprilia, and Honda...they're all on the 6th or 7th year already for those models.

What are you talking about"¦they JUST modified the R model from '13 to '14.

Hazard lights :)
