2015 1199 R march.........

But while upgrading from a 2014 R I can't help but feel a bit anxious. While it will be an awesome machine, it's still not quite a 1299........ and how much BHP will a 1299 achieve if you chuck the full Akrapovic system on it? 215 maybe?

Have I made the right choice?!?!

I have a friend who has ridden the 1299 and raved about it saying the engine had the same low down torque of the 98 series whereas the R is a SL engine and spools up quickly and has lot's of top end.

If i go for the R i will out on the full akra system as i already have it and maybe change the fork internals so i'm thinking it will be a slightly heavier SL, but till i meet someone who has ridden it or a decent review it's all guesswork.

What?????????????????

1299s paid in full waiting for april. Wait is it April yet?

Holy smokes dude!

You didnt tell me this Mike? Even after I helped spread the word on the collection effort you didnt reach out to let me know you did this?

Well, congrats to you my friend and I loo forward to seeing you on it too! April can't come fast enough can it - this weather is RIDICULOUS! :(

Weather is ridiculous. And plans change. Ill txt ya. Not happening anymore. :( That should also have said 1299s deposit paid in full not 1299s paid in full.

I purchased 1299 at the same week it was introduced in Milan. But now wondering about upgrade to 1299s. Pricing difference is a lot here in Finland, retail price 37600€ (42480$) where the base model is 30600€ (34571$).

This is due vehicle tax. But luckily our weather is great, roads in excellent condition and speeding tickets are low. NOT.

Bike will arrive in April as well, so plenty of time to make that decision.

The 2015 R already as a full Akra and the shocks are already similar spec (how else can they justify the price hike?!).

That's my worry, there's not much more you can do to it. The 1299 however, could be fitted with an Akra, tuned etc. and then be a better more powerful machine?!?!

Forget the power, what about the weight. Try getting the 1299 into the R territory. That's going to cost monaaaay!!! We do need some reviews.

I thought it just came with a slip on ??

Homologated Akrapovic titanium exhaust

A homologated Akrapovic exhaust, with silencers and tubes fully in titanium, is as beautiful as it is functional. Allowing the Panigale R's engine maximum breathing and maximum power, this exhaust is impeccably built and weighs only a fraction of what a comparable steel exhaust does

I presume this is different to the full akra system that is currently available to pass emission laws but I do think this is the same as the stock system that came with the sl and then they had the race system that you could also use.

STW
Does the akra that comes std with the R have the butterfly valve in it for the noise emissions ?

You know the one where we all disconnect the cable.

I am totally guessing here and stand to be corrected..but I am thinking the R will be shipped with the same Pipe as the S ..with the Akra accompanying the bike in the crate... The dealer will install... Just like the Tricolore was shipped with stock pipe with Termi slips included... This is the only way I see DNA getting around the DOT regs on emissions/noise..... So..no valve or cats in Akra pipe... But.... I'm guessing as I say...:)

I'm pretty sure I'm going to pick up the base model. I could swing the "S" model by not convinced the extra $6k is right for me. The electronic suspension control seems cool. All fine and dandy for your advanced rider but I weigh about 250lbs all geared up and still can't out ride the track only 2007 CBR 600RR I have now with properly sprung Ohlins. I'd hope if I ever track the Duc I could get a traditional Ohlins set up for my weight for id hope a few grand.

In the U.S. the 2015 Panigale R will come with full Ti Akra homologated exhaust ONLY, it will NOT come with the optional non-homologated racing mufflers like the SL did. Those will be available separately in Ducati Performance catalog.

I guess the question is what is the difference between the current 1199 akra system v's the homollgated system v's the non homologated racing cans.

Akra system, Li-ion battery and it's getting close.......... Gym membership?!

Insurance 1299s

My business partner a I are just about to order a pair of 1299s'.
We have been looking into insurance and no one seems to be able to help.
I'm 35 with full licence for 14yrs and my partner is 42 with a full licence for 16yrs we have no claims or convictions.

Can anyone help with who to use or is it more to do with the fact the bike is not released yet?

Try Ducati insurance.

I have the new Panigale R on order, they quoted me £610 fully comp.

I'm 36, full bike license for 9 years, Male, works offshore (apparently not good for insurance!?!?), seeks female with big............. hang on, wrong forum......... Maybe a speeding fine and 6 points a while back.

The only thing is they have specified a tracker for theft reasons.

Wow, so simple.

I didn't think of ducati insurance (obvious choice)

I'll let you know how I get on.

Good luck with the big..........;)
