I have seen many threads on which shorai battery to get for the panigale. the one on shorai site is wrong. i know people have been using the lfx 18 whatever the model number. this one WAS CORRECT but shorai came out with another one

THE CORRECT SHORAI IS THE LFX19A4BS12.

hope this helps.

I purchased the LFX14 over a year ago, and at that time they recommended the LFX9, and LFX14 for extended storage. No problems thus far with my 14.

funny i called shorai and revzilla and moto wheels. each had a different answer.

i think i'd try the new batteries from Battery Tender

Under the bonnet, they aren't any different from the Shorai. They are still prismatic cells and similar capacity to the Shorai, so you'd only be trying a different case.

If different is what you're really after, then batteries made from cylindrical cells should be what you're targeting. eg Anti Gravity etc etc.

I know, my point was they keep changing it. Mine probably is under powered.

You're quite correct...

The Pani's charging system does't quite reach 14.4v, therefore the LiFePO4 batteries never reach anywhere close to 100% charge.

I've yet to get some time to do quantitative testing.. but a guesstimate would be about 60% SOC is all these batteries are getting to.

I suspect this is the reason Shorai has been increasing the capacity recommendation for the the Pani each year.

I haven't done any extended testing, but I have pigtails for both their charger and a decent trickle charger. They both seem to charge it sufficiently if it drops.

from what i have heard the ratings that are for regular batteries and for batteries like shorai are like comparing apples to oranges. I've read that to get an apples to apples comparison you have to cut the ratings by 2 on batteries like shorai to get what they are really giving out.

don't know but i think i am going to go with the earth x battery. their rating system is the same as lead batteries according to their site and have built in shut offs so you can't deplete or over charge them.
