Couple more tidbits just to answer questions that came up in this thread:

1) The 226 HP on the V4 Speciale is from the full Akra Race Exhaust that it comes with, which adds 12 HP and drops ~8 LBS. That exhaust IS ALSO available to put on the V4 and V4S to bump it to the same 226HP.

2) Yes the V4 and V4S have 2-up capabilities, basically the entire tailpiece gets swapped out. The Speciale however is monoposto only.

3) Speciale IS a numbered limited edition, 1500 worldwide, #xxx of 1500 laser-engraved on the top triple.

Is that exhaust a single outlet? What does the other side look like?

If the current R is anything to go by, then the V4 R will be:
* about 10 kilos lighter
* make similar horsepower and less torque than the standard V4's with an akra system
* have an even higher rev ceiling to match the power of the bigger standard V4
* different paint scheme
* AU$20,000 on top of the base

And just for the record, I don't think this is the most beautiful Superbike that Ducati has produced, but it looks WAY BETTER in person, as do most Ducatis. Once the bike hits the showroom floor, the way the bike looks will not be a hinderance for sales, what WILL be a hinderance for sales will be availability! This bike takes significantly more time to produce than the current Panigale and availability is going to be extremely tight this year, we aren't going to get anywhere near as many of these as we would like to have unfortunately.

I can't as well, looks to much like the panigale front n rear. Now if it was a new design then yes I would consider but no point in having two bikes that looks to similar.
Plus they need to redesign that air duct.

Something tells me that Ducati are doing a naming scheme with their superbike range from now on, pretty much to line up with their entire range.
I.e. 'Panigale' will now be the name of all their future superbikes, and won't be going any major aesthetic design changes, just like how every new Monster or Multistrada looks very similar with the previous iteration. I'm guessing due to the success of the Panigale that they believe its design is unmistakably Ducati, much like the Monster and Multistrada. Is this a farewell to revolutionary aesthetic design changes? I'm hoping not.

The pics show rear sets just like on the 1299 - V4 Speciale in the presentation had round sets?

WELL........
Have to say I'm still on the fence and will have to see it in person. What's certain is it just doesn't have the same level of visual appeal that the 11/1299 has which is a shame. I would have loved seeing what Gianni Fabro would have done with the V4! Be that as it may, the racey grafics and outrageous HP of the Speciale are hard to argue with... but bottom line -I'm just not feeling the urge to run and give my dealer a deposit like I did for the 1199 or 1098.

On the technical side I'm thrilled they're moving forward to a new format. The Performance enhancements are awesome though Id never be able to approach the anything near the limits to compare. So-I will enjoy my twins "which are now worth more" #aircooledporsche style.

And speaking of money, any information on the price of the 3 v4 for us in the states?

i think it looks good and for sure even better in person!

the performance, handling, feel, etc. will for sure be impressive.

let's see!!!
