Friend of mine is selling a really sweet "ultimate" track bike for the Bayliss fan. It's a 2008 1098R Xerox WSBK replica that was built by Ducati as a replica of Bayliss's race bike to take around to the race events, and they let a couple journalists use it for this article:
2009 Ducati Performance 1098R Superbike Comparison - Motorcycle USA
He's had it out to some track days over the last few years but is getting a Superleggera now and also has a Desmo, so he says this one need to go to a new home. Won't be cheap with what's on it (Ohlins FGR's, Marchesini mags, Corse exhaust, cams and intake, carbon Corse bodywork, etc.), no expense was spared on it. PM me if you're seriously interested and I can get you some pics, etc. He's talking about sending it to high end auction, but I figured one of my track-addicted forum peeps might be in the market!
This is literally the fastest most brutal bike I've ever ridden on the track, it's insanely stupidly blindingly fast, walks away from an 1199 on corner exits. They dyno'd it for the magazine article before it was tuned and it was making 172 at the wheel, but it's more like 185-190 and 95 ft/lbs. of torque at the wheel now after we blueprinted the engine and got it tuned. And at the same time, if you're gentle with the throttle its one of the best handling bikes you've ever had the pleasure of throwing into a corner, it makes you appreicate how Bayliss and Checa won two WSBK titles on this exact platform.
