First, I'm not that fast.
After 3 sessions of 20mn each, i felt way behind, especially at braking (my r1m had brembo discs and z04 pads) the panigale moves a lot and i'm not confident in engaging fast and hard in a corner as I was with the yam. I'd say the r1m feels that 1 strong entity while the duc can move, give you more freedom on trajectory change, etc...
Also the power makes the bike more physical to ride, it's violent and you must work all the time while the yam gave "rest" when accelerating.
I started with standard dynamic setup. And I changed with harder front (2 up), less wheelie control (1 down) and smooth throttle instead of full.
After this I'm a little bit more confident on the front end and braking, and the bike is more friendly when accelerating.
Honestly I felt slow everywhere all day, and I didn't check my times. And the evening I checked and I'm half a second behind my best with the R1M...
In conclusion, the engine is so powerful that I'm making up my corner's mistakes in the straight, and with more practice and the good setup, I will increase my times a lot.
I'll be at Spa in 4 weeks, the times will drop for sure as this track is quite fast.
I will switch the oem tyres for a pair of Pirelli slicks (didn't had the time) and I will put Z04 pads as well, I prefer the feeling a lot.
