Hi Both My brother and i have base with ABS models ..My Brother three weeks ago had a strange problem with his tail lights.Basically both the turn signals and brake light were flashing at the same time as soon as he turned on the ignition. This was only on the rear not the front which were not operating. Both sides were flashing at the same time and brake light also flashing.Turned off the ingnition and the light continued to flash for approx 30 seconds then would go off. This happened even when the key had been removed. We ended up removing the seat and moving the cable to the ECU / Lights under the seat. This seemed to work but the next day the same issue again. The worrying thing is when riding the bike the power would cut then suddenly the bike would shoot forward and he had to brake . This happened on our way to our local dealer and he nearly had an off on the way there due to this fault. We went to dealer ( 150 miles away ) for first service and they checked it out. They said they have seen wiring issues on a further two bike they have sold .They found a corroded wire going to the rear lights which must have been causing the fault. They ended cutting the wiring plug and re-terminating with conectors. The bike has continued to give faults so is now in the hands of Ducati assistance to be delivered to the the dealer who now has a replacement wiring harness to be fitted to the bike.It seems strange the bike had corroded connections after only covering 600 miles ( we do live in Scotland and it has been wet recently but he has not been out in the rain.He also has washed the bike but not with a pressure hose so no real reason for water ingress) I will keep you posted on what happens next .......

Moisture will do it"¦. it's beautiful and green in your country. I had a 1098 that had the same problems on Long Island, NY. After the dealer repaired it, I applied electrical connector spray for marine use.

Ive used similar sprays in the past as well as silicone based greases but on bikes which are at least a few years old.

Yes i understand the issues with moisture as ive had many problems in the past with it on various models of bike including my 848.As you said we have loads of green so loads of water /rain :).Im also a Mechanical Engineer so fully undertand the problems associated with water in electrical circuits. The more concerning thing is the problem the bike has not been in wet conditions and has only covered a very small amount of miles which seems strange ?. The other is the comment of further bikes having similar problems ?.

I had a similar problem on a ride to Monterey California on my 748 (I live in Phoenix AZ). Only took a few hours for moister in the air combined with sea water to corrode any exposed wires and mounting points.

This is good info...will spray some silicone on some of my connectors...
Philippines has a very high humidity scale...

Thanks for the tip!

put dilectric grease in the connectors, you can get spray or tube versions.
