Yet Another hub problem...

Never a bad idea to pull that assembly apart to clean, inspect, grease, and retorque. My SF never sees rain or a full wet wash and I still do it yearly

These hubs are pretty much the same as the 1098/1198 hubs. I have ridden my 1098 SF in the rain, snow (snow scares the holy living .... out of me never again) hail etc but anyway in the rain many times. I service the head bearings, hub and swingarm pivot about every 20K miles and have never seen this. My V4 hub when I lubed it at maybe 5 K miles had melted the grease particularly on the drive side. I still think that this was originally lubed with something that was too low temp. So be careful to wash all that out. I lube these with Redline CV-2. You can pull the bearing seals loose to aid this if you're careful.

Yeah I was a bit surprised at what equates to 13-14k miles. I'll be pulling down myself more frequently that for sure. The Redline CV-2 looks like it would spec well for this application. Thanks.
