Chaz Davies was at Imola riding the new 2015 "R" and here's what he had to say about it.:

"Yesterday was too much fun ripping around Imola on the ‪#‎Ducati‬ ‪#‎Panigale‬ R road bike. Such a capable bit of kit and a lot of fun to ride. In full road trim including tyres my lap times would have easily qualified for the @WorldSBK grid. Really cool to see some of the trick stuff I've helped develop transfer though to the production line and keep you road riders happy! Thanks @DucatiMotor for allowing me to play.."

"With a bit more time and personalisation with the setup I'm confident I could get within 4 seconds of my best race lap over the weekend. Pretty good for something straight off the showroom floor!"

Now THAT is damn impressive.

Now if only one of you would do a thorough write up of your 2015... :D

I have to stay away from my local dealer. As well as an "R" sitting there, they also have a Superleggera... MUST STAY AWAY!!!

Would love to hear Chaz comment on the 1299 S, bet it's not far off the R at all

Im waiting on Shilling to make the first jump to give impressions:p
Not happening... Number 1, because my Wife and I bought a fixer-upper last year and it's soaking up a metric shitload of funds. 2. I commute every day by motorcycle and I just won't do that to an "R".. The 1299S is plenty of bike for me and once I get it to the track, I will see how she goes... But an R is not on the cards.

Cheers.

I was kidding guys. Im ok with my purchase. I will never be great enough to use 20% of this bike.

The "R" is sure to be a great bike in the hands of those who can properly operate it!

I commute regularly on my Pani R, about 100 miles a day. It handles it far better than the 1098R did. Especially with no dry clutch.

Think you can cross that reason off and then you are one step closer ;-)

Oh my word!

Picked up my R today after first service.......... IT IS SOMETHING ELSE, seriously, seriously, something else......

I didn't even have much time on it to be honest, nothing really full throttle, but by god it's fast. The gears are so tall, it just builds and builds..... That engine is truly amazing. How? Just how can it rev that freely and so fast? For a twin? I'm speechless......

I have a snippet, but it was done in a hurry, more just so you can hear the thing and hear the length of the gears............ again, nothing was really with the throttle hard against the stop.

Also I had levers and alloy reservoirs fitted, since then the levers have been spongey that unsettled me a little, but I can't get to look at them until tomorrow as they require bleeding a touch I think...... grrr

Having said that, I was in some confusion as to whether I made the right decision with this bike over the 1299, now I have no doubt.......

What I have done, hand on heart, honestly I have way more machine than I can ever handle, I have bought a machine that is truly frightening, it is the closest you will get to any race machine just now........

It is fantastic, I know it will just keep giving the more I learn, phenomenal just doesn't quite do it justice.

Ducati, you have finally delivered the Panigale I always wanted from the start......... and then some!!!! FACT.

I'm not saying you CAN'T commute on one, I'm saying I don;t have the heart to subject such a gorgeous thing to such abuse.. :D

Mutt1979, have you ridden a 1299 yet? if so, can you give us your thoughts on comparison between that and your R.

My ordered S is due to arrive tomorrow, so by the time the dealer fits the Akra Evo system and other carbon bits and pieces and resprings the front and rear it will be a week. They are more than happy for me to change over onto an R (I just traded my 14R in) if I wish, but I need to make a decision now and I am just so torn - the whole reason I have traded my 14R in is because I think it was a far better race bike than street bike because it only really came alive in the higher RPM (8-9,000 rpm plus) and was some what lifeless and did not like the lower rpm ranges which you more often than not see on the street going around and accelerating out of corners etc.

I wish I could ride both before making a decision but that will never happen as Ducati Australia will not have demos until at least December.....

Which ever 1 (or both - hint) you get, write your own article....people (we) will read it !
