From what I've been told, the 2015 R engine has some RS components that were not in the SL engine. I'll try and find the print.

Please do . I don't actually believe there is a actual "RS" . The cams and valves being used in the EVO bikes in WSBK are different but the valves are oversized compared to the ones in the standard R bikes .,

I agree totally Shilling, at some point you realize that it isn't worth the pain, older guys take longer to heal as well. I played a little pro football as a younger guy and played in a masters tournament last year, the skills on display there were a joy to watch albeit in slow motion, also couldn't walk for week. I did manage to drink a lot of beer though.
HAHAHAHA... I was in a similar position; played Rugby for the Scottish Rugby team all the way through the age groups (under 11's under 13's, under 15's etc, etc.) and stopped playing when I was 23. When I was 38, I was invited to play a game locally and so went to a practice and then played a few days afterwards... I was literally CRIPPLED for about a week.. I forgot how much abuse you put yourself through and I was tackling like I used to when i was in my 20's... BAD idea.. After that game, I decided that was my last... My girlfriend at the time was a licensed masseuse and she tried to sort out my major issues and just ended up laughing her ass off when she basically couldn't touch one square inch of me that didn't hurt.

Cheers..

Haha, yeah, I played front row for 25 years, I have stupidly signed up again for next year but my aim is to have less game time and drink more beer.

I was a loosehead prop... LOVED playing that position, as I could break away from the scrum and FLATTEN the scrum-half if he hesitated getting the ball passed... :D

Less game time and more beer is an EXCELLENT goal to aim for...

I was loose head prop as well, nothing better than tagging those quick steppy .......s.

Shame your not in this part of the world, the masters tournament gets 80 teams attending, you could come drink beer with us, we managed to go through undefeated last year but we have a lot of ex Queensland players on our team.

Sorry for jacking the thread guys, promise we will get back on topic at some stage.

I actually toured Australia with our under 15's team.. We played various schools there, including King's School Parramatta (spelling?). My best friend lives in Australian and owns an Alpaca farm just outside Melbourne..

OK.. Back to the topic at hand; sorry for jacking the thread OP... Oh, hold on, I was the OP.. Never mind.. :D

I'm 53 years old and faster then I ever was, due to experience and tons of training and track time, HOWEVER... I also am not prepared to push as hard as I did when I was younger, if I was, I would be faster still.

At some point, you decide that avoiding major injuries are more important than cutting the fastest lap in the race group at a track day. Now, if I go back to racing for real, I may have to push harder than I would like and that is why I am resisting the urge to get back into racing.

Well said - the penalty for error on a bike can be high. When you do get the S back on the track, it will be interesting to see how you think the electronic aids compare to the S1K. I expect your lap times to drop compared to the BMW once you get used to the 1299 on track

I will be shocked if I am not at least 2 seconds a lap faster on the 1299... Identical tires...

I already know that the 1299's electronics are light years better than my 2011 BMW S1000RR.... I haven't ridden a 2015 version, so maybe the electronics have progressed since mine. I will be riding my buddies 2015 in the next couple of weeks, so I will know better soon and be able to compare.

i have a 15 R standing in it s box.... decided to develop the 13 further...

got some F13 intakes and re installed a Shortthrottle....

first reports from my 2 buddies who now are on the 15R seem that the Aero packages ( taller head ) is working.... seen some 300kph + data where 292 was previous best...

they re still waiting for the 300 termi to be mapped but looks like a beast... :)

I see MCN have got a shootout queued up on their site between the Panigale R, the RSV4RF and the R1M, which won their initial shootout. That should be interesting... :)

Definitely - I'd like to see the 1299S thrown in as well

In the article linked in another thread here, it was mentioned that the SBK team has gone to a swingarm 20-25mm longer than the stock bike and really played with the geometry.

The "R"

Was waiting on the 1299 S.... but was taking too long, so I ended up getting the next best thing!:D

I have a race in Most, Czech Rep. this weekend, but I highly doubt i'll make the break-in period due to work!

But i'll be ready for my Hockenheim race on 6-7 June..updates soon to follow!
