From time to time I've seen various threads speculating on what's in the pipeline for Ducati. Thought it would be interesting to get everyone's opinions in one place. So, let's have it!

What would you like in the future? Whether it's a particular type of technology, an engine layout, improvements to an existing model, or an entire bike concept - describe what you want, keeping feasibility in mind as much as possible.

I'll start. I'd like "Supermono 2.0" - a super-premium ultra lightweight single, fully faired as a superbike and built like a jewel. Dripping in carbon, mag, and ti. 650cc, 140 kg, supercharged for 110 hp. $65k msrp.

Who's next? :D

I would love to see Ducati build a production V4 model. Just not $65k lol. Keep where us mortals can afford it like the Panigale.

I'd like to see a track only bike
no cats no turnsignals no epa, dot or anything that makes it overpriced and heavy .
I think you could sell one for under 10k if it were really basic.

I keep thinking I could buy a 1199 for 17- 18 and strip and sell the plastic and parts sell them off and be into one for around 14ish
Maybe I could buy a 899 and strip and sell and be in it for around 12ish ,

I think it would be way more fun if it was made from the factory ready to go though
as far as street sport bike configurations go I like twins always have . I also like I4's have them too ... v4 would be cool but I'm riding a twin because I like the power delivery . If ducati makes another v4 I doubt it would be the death knell of their twin legacy IMO.

In the future I would like Ducati to supply me with clean pants and a crash helmet to accomodate my stupidly large grin as both are directly caused by my R one way or another.

V4, +1.

I know people say "oh but Ducati's heratage is the twin" yes, granted, but think outside the box a bit, there is definately a market for it. However, Audi now have their beady eyes set on making a motorcycle to compete with BMW. I don't think it's out of the question, but I bet it will have the four rings on it and not the Ducati badge........

The V-4 is very much a part of the Ducati heritage

The Ducati Apollo

One story is that the reason it failed in the market is that it was far too powerful for the tires of the time.

Just holding my space for now

I've actually put some thought into this looking at your current model line-up and how you could enhance.

I don't have time to detail it now, but I will update/revise later today.

Thanks-Big Boost

A streetable super-mono. Surely they could build one in the same price range as an 899/1199/1299.

As for V4s....if I wanted a Yamahondazuki, I'd go buy one. I don't see Ducati going down that path in the forseeable.

I'd love a streetable super mono that we could race in the same class as the SV650s--but I wouldn't want it to be supercharged. Something in the 899 price range.

I'd also love to see what a light sport bike built on the motor used in the Scrambler might be like.

What does a Yamahondazuki have to do with a V4? If they want to build a competitive superbike they'll eventually need to go to 4 cylinders. Or keep bumping up the displacement, but I don't see that as a long-term solution for a superbike. They will need to make more power; to do so, they need cylinders. 2 more of them. They can continue with the twin heritage through all their other product lines, but the superbike line needs to change to remain competitive.

How many Japanese road going bikes have you seen that were V-4s?

I like where your head is at, pull some strings and make it happen!

And while you are at it, a 500cc 2 stroke with FI and direct injection that weighs about the same:D

1.) Keep the Panigale S the way it is. Lose the R model.

2.) Make a V4 Panigale. Same look and everything, maybe a few styling keys from MotoGP. Just a slightly wider engine. Make that the R model. Not as rare and hardcore expensive as the Desmosedici, but less concessions to street use than the Panigale.

There's room for twin superbikes and V4 superbikes. Let the market decide what Ducati's future is. Because this is it for twins. I doubt we'll see an twin cylinder engine more powerful than the 1299 anytime soon.

If there really is more power to be had from the twin, then ignore everything I just mentioned. I think the Ducati's are doomed in SBK, it's only a matter of time.

3.) Make a Hipster version of the Monster. Small pipe kits. Spoke wheels. Plenty of excellent looking cafe Monsters out there.

3.) Turn the Multi-Strada into a poser adventure version of Dakar race bike. The KTM Adv 990 is long gone. And the bike that replaced it isn't the same, more like the big BMW. There's a hole in the market here:

But don't make some lameo street version. Make a big front wheel , knobbie tired version, with all the pizazz of the Dakar race bikes. Even if it's a poser bike, race replica's made Ducati. And race replica's will keep Ducati alive in the future.

I think the lineup right now is pretty awesome at the moment.... I would like to see a V4 come through the pipeline and I would really like the see a 899 R..
Most of all though a 1199 Streerfighter..... I have a 1098SF S and absolutely live that bike. A 1199 SF would be an absolute riot

You say nothing I haven't heard the past 30 years. And at the moment they seem to be building a competitive superbike.

Add more cylinders and you make it a fundamentally different machine. Not one I'd be interested in. And (I suspect) the sentiment of a lot of long-time fans.

You 4-cyl guys are dreaming.

I hope you're right. I prefer twins as well, obviously. I'm startled that the Ducati has the power to keep up in WSBK. And they have clearly stated that they're staying V2 for years to come.

More power isn't a need of mine. I liked the power Ducati had years ago. But it sells bikes and wins races still.
