While the issue I am posting about is seemingly well known on the 1199, I am posting a new thread for the added SEO benefits for the guys (or gals) that will inevitably have this issue with their 2015 1299 Panigale.
2015 Ducati 1299 Panigale CAN LINE Internal Sensor Check Engine Light Error ABS Light Error Panigale
Earlier today I had the Christmas tree effect on my dashboard and all of the blinkers going off at the same time. This happened in the middle of a ride in the city, with only 330 miles on the bike.
Reluctantly, I parked and shut off the bike in hopes that the issue would resolve itself upon restarting. Luckily, the bike did restart and I was able to make it home. Once I got home I consulted the owners manual, and ended up googling the issue.
The CAN LINE error often associated with the BBS module was the common error I was seeing. There have been references to water, moisture or corrosion in the plug creating this error message.
Knowing I had washed the motorcycle the day before (carefully mind you,) I hoped this was the problem.
Some people have had to have the dealer replace the module completely or the battery (for some reason.) I assume they were chasing the problem, when in reality cleaning and properly sealing the plug would probably have worked.
The DDS plug module is located under the tail or passenger seat, its circled in red at the top of the picture. The BBS module is the lower red circle. It is fairly difficult to get access to. The plug release is underneath on the bottom. I could not find an easier way other than patience and utilizing the access holes on both sides and top of the frame.
After reading the threads in relation to the 1199, I found the solution to be to the same for the 1299 Panigale:
1. remove seat (requires small allen wrench. careful not to nick tank
2. carefully clean the DDS plug (under passenger seat) and the BBS plug (under riders main seat) use only electronic cleaner. do not get this on the paint or other surfaces.
2. apply an appropriate amount of dielectric grease to the female end of the BBS module located under the seat
3. Carefully reinstall plugs and reverse the disassemble process
Once I did this, the error has not reappeared. This problem can occur on new or older bikes due to condensation, moisture, water or even corrosion getting into the plug and effecting the connection.
Additionally, some users have reported this problem because the plugs corrode over time or even fairly quickly. It is highly recommended to properly seal these. I would suggest sealing them- even if you haven't experienced this issue. A $5.00 can if grease can save a lot of money down the road on corroded or water logged plugs.

Some users report having this issue and the bike will not restart.
In this situation, it is advisable that you call Ducati roadside (if under warranty,)
or arrange to repair the bike on site.
If neither of those are options, I'd advise finding a safe method of getting the bike home to diagnose and repair the issue.
