While the issue I am posting about is seemingly well known on the 1199, I am posting a new thread for the added SEO benefits for the guys (or gals) that will inevitably have this issue with their 2015 1299 Panigale.

Earlier today I had the Christmas tree effect on my dashboard and all of the blinkers going off at the same time. This happened in the middle of a ride in the city, with only 330 miles on the bike.

Reluctantly, I parked and shut off the bike in hopes that the issue would resolve itself upon restarting. Luckily, the bike did restart and I was able to make it home. Once I got home I consulted the owners manual, and ended up googling the issue.

Some users report having this issue and the bike will not restart.
In this situation, it is advisable that you call Ducati roadside (if under warranty,)
or arrange to repair the bike on site.
If neither of those are options, I'd advise finding a safe method of getting the bike home to diagnose and repair the issue.

The CAN LINE error often associated with the BBS module was the common error I was seeing. There have been references to water, moisture or corrosion in the plug creating this error message.

Knowing I had washed the motorcycle the day before (carefully mind you,) I hoped this was the problem.

Some people have had to have the dealer replace the module completely or the battery (for some reason.) I assume they were chasing the problem, when in reality cleaning and properly sealing the plug would probably have worked.

The DDS plug module is located under the tail or passenger seat, its circled in red at the top of the picture. The BBS module is the lower red circle. It is fairly difficult to get access to. The plug release is underneath on the bottom. I could not find an easier way other than patience and utilizing the access holes on both sides and top of the frame.

After reading the threads in relation to the 1199, I found the solution to be to the same for the 1299 Panigale:

1. remove seat (requires small allen wrench. careful not to nick tank
2. carefully clean the DDS plug (under passenger seat) and the BBS plug (under riders main seat) use only electronic cleaner. do not get this on the paint or other surfaces.
2. apply an appropriate amount of dielectric grease to the female end of the BBS module located under the seat
3. Carefully reinstall plugs and reverse the disassemble process

Once I did this, the error has not reappeared. This problem can occur on new or older bikes due to condensation, moisture, water or even corrosion getting into the plug and effecting the connection.

Additionally, some users have reported this problem because the plugs corrode over time or even fairly quickly. It is highly recommended to properly seal these. I would suggest sealing them- even if you haven't experienced this issue. A $5.00 can if grease can save a lot of money down the road on corroded or water logged plugs.

So I washed my Bike on Sunday, using a hand spray bottle. Monday morning I got the Christmas tree dash. Cycling through an array of errors and then 'can line' large in red, hazards flashing all sorts of speeds and the brake light as well, fan was running sometimes although bike was tone cold. I followed the procedure at the top and the error maintained. I then unplugged the black box and battery and left it all to dry out for a day. This afternoon I reconnected everything and the dash is normal. Obviously something is getting wet.... Even with mild wash.... Rainy season is coming.https://vimeo.com/158388610
I will wet the bike in sections over the next while to see in which area there is a breach.

Good idea. I think thats a good way to findout whats also causing issues if the 1st posters suggestions aren't working. Where is this blackbox located anyways that you left out to dry? Also is there a way to properly seal the battery terminals from getting wet if thats an issue also?

Thanks guys helpful info in this thread, I'm of the type that wash my bike after every ride, 1700km on odo now and no issue yet.
As said wet Wx is on its way and I will certainly be watching this. Possibly on a rainy day just pull the electrical plugs and grease as suggested.
I was warned that Ducati in the past suffered from electrical problems? But had hoped that since using Bosh components this thorn would have been identified and sorted out.

Well, just an update. Last night no fault codes, but this morning on switch on it was a Christmas tree again.... Weird, nothing touched it overnight.
Ducati is coming to collect her tomorrow morning. I hate putting my Bike on a trailer and letter her out of my sight, very disappointing indeed.
I will let you know what the dealer finds.

Ps, blackbox is the BBS under the seat nicely photographed above. I just unplugged it end let it all sit in nice dry heat for a day.

So, she got to dealer and no fault codes at all. They could not pick up anything. The long drive on the back of a truck obviously rattled out all water and dried whatever got wet. Fetched her on Saturday and went for a nice ride this morning. Amazing bike.

Nope, she is going well, I have washed her a couple of times since and 900 km but I have not used the hose like I did the time it happened. I will still try to wet sections of the bike with the hose when I have time to experiment.

My responses are limited, you have to ask the right questions.

Experienced this the other day after two rainy days.. I think the moisture in the air must hv been the cause.. But after two sunny days and dry air the dash lit up like normal and bike fires up like always.. Just gotta remember to always keep the bike dry and wrapped up in waterproof cover if kept outdoors.

Had this issue today. Pushed on the wire harness and plug in the bbs and it went away. I'm thinking water on or in the connecter. I pulled the plug off to blow it out. When I washed it after my last ride I do remember hosing more than I normally would under the tail section. The bbs module is actually very exposed from under the tail section so it's very easy for water to get in there. Going for a ride tomorrow so hopefully it's all good.
