engine heat

I'm 6'3" with long legs. When I ride the balls of my feet or toes are on the pegs.

Had a long ride today. The temp was perfect 72F. I wore my leathers. I usually always wear by track boots when going sport riding and the worst heat I feel is above the top of the boots but just below my knee.

With the leathers and slip-on, no heat problems to report. I think that had more to do with the leathers and the better ambient temp than the slip-on. The seat is slick AF though. ;)

exactly. the difference in hot-spots between you and me makes more sense now:

I've got proportionally normal length legs. If you have longer legs then average with same foot position on the peg, then that additional ~2" in (lower) leg length moves the heatspot down and backwards, towards your (upper) calf(s). Since your calf(s) moves up and more forward in the yellow box ánd into the blue box compared to my seating position. So your lower leg(s) receive a double heat-blast both via conduction from front subframe ánd convection from the back-cylinder and -exhaust piping. right?

Indeed when riding slow in warm climates with our legs protected by thick leathers, multiple layers of (Nomex) underwear a/o multiple optional bike-mods (ICE, ceramic-/ carbon shielding, etc. etc.) in/ around those heat-blast areas, our heat-issues are manageable and our legs become toasty warm at most.

This way I nJoy her 'hot' temper also under these adverse conditions.

Gold Tape to the inside of the CF covers.
I put this under my seat as a test - works pretty well.

I need to do these CF covers as well.

I'm looking at these -
Maybe there are better ones. ?

Gold tape?! NASA uses it too to shield spaceships from radiating sunblast, so why not? LOL

I very much like their craftsmanship as explained here with pride and their carbon weaving is supposedly the same as OEM?:
"Prepreg Carbon 200g plain weave with the exact matching structure of the original Ducati Carbon Parts"

Too bad I already ordered the original more expensive subframe covers 96981291AA, else I would seriously considered these once from lieb-speed.eu at a 'more favourable' price-point.

took some time during the holidays to install both covers etc.

Interested to experience if this mitigates the blistering heat radiating towards the back of my knees?

yes both carbon covers function noticeably well as heat decouplers in between the frontal magnesium frame and both inner sides of my knees pressing against it.
Fazit: not a cheap solution but effective against heat radiation ☢️
