Oilpressure

Just to clarify, my engine didn't blow up!
My bike has only 2300 miles and I checked screen when I was installing metal water pump gears. Now this bike is track bike only and it gets oil changed every two to three events with Motul 300V 15/50 and Ducati filter. So lack of maintenance suggestions have no foundation to stand on, I strongly believe that this .... has to do something with
factory assembly or filtering media from filter element is separating from the housing!
That is only cloth looking material put in engine on a regular basis.

There is no chance that .... came in the motor from Italy. They might not be built in a pressurized filtered room but come on. I have built motors in the pits, in a shed, the bed of a pick up - no issues like that

It’s too small and simple of a assembly for a shop towel to be left inside of it (happens sometimes on larger stuff tho : )

It’s from a bad filter...

It’s gotta be

Dude you can't categorically say no way it came from factor, worse things than that happened before...
e.g one ....... bad "O" took space shuttle down...!?
There is common denominator in all the cases of crap in pick up screen, from Australia to US to Netherlands which is oil filter! As I stated above...

Ha let me clarify. What I meant was, I agree with Don on using OEM filters. Not necessarily that the filter was the issue. Only way to know is assay the material.

Maybe Mick the disgruntled night janitor sweeps up and dumps it all in a random superQ motor?

Heard there was a janitor named Mick down in Newport probably should hire him Don that dumpster shop of a mess needs a major cleaning.

The best forensic technology in the world comes from the Netherlands

Maybe he has a lab near by?

Hiflo filters are made there too. Wonder if they have small claims court?

At least put it in some solvent and get some idea of what it is. What does the cartridge filter look like? Any noticeable signs of degradation?

Yep

I would be looking for some de-TEAR-ioration

As I would be crying A LOT

Like Mick ALWAYS is : )

Good job Don congratulations job well done now we all can just sit back and wait for the DumpsterFirePani!!!

Weld the crank and have it offset ground. Or maybe you are rich enough to have someone write a program and build you a crank from billet? Either will work. Then you make longer rods and/move the wrist pin boss in the piston but that’s a lot of rpm for a big twin man. Doubt it will live and even if it does the torque curve is gonna be crazier than a 2 stoke. That motor is too far outta square to start with

Be interested to see what that material is.

Yes, please, somebody in the Neighborhood may have a microscope.

they tell you to check the screen every second oil change.
apparently not to generate maintenance effort.
i have no, or lets say, the ideas i have sounds ridiculous to me.

I never had to change clutch plates yet.

Today I inspected my spare engine. It was used on the track about two years. There was the same crap in the pick up, but a little less compared to the broken engine. It looks a bit like the stuff that is in the filter of a washing machine.

I use my Panigales only on the track and I change the oil and filter about every 500 km/miles. So in both engines I have used almost 10 oil filters. Maybe there is some loose filter material in a new filter. I use HiFlo filters.

But of course in the future I will clean the pickup screen with every oil change.
Considering that you use (and are sponsored by) HiFlo, did you contact them about potential oil filter media in this screen?

A picture of the crap I found in the screen. I can't figure out what it is. It is not magnetic. Today I inspected my other bike and there was hardly anything to see in the screen and it has about the same milage.

I didn't change the bearings; to torque the rods I use the tool from the picture; Carrillo wants to torque them on stretch 0.130 mm

It is hard to tell from the image but I would be checking the water pump gears it looks like plastic , I had similar in mine and they were eroding and well on the way to complete fail .
I started a thread on my journey last year .
