Round the World on an 1199
As part of my coast-to-coast (and back) journey on an 1199, I wanted to also see if I could do 1000 miles (an Ironbutt) on one. Mission accomplished (Austin, TX to Scottsdale). Full report is here: Coast to Coast (and back?) with an Italian Supermodel - Page 69 - ADVrider

Anyone who thinks that A Ducati Superbike is too uncomfortable to do long miles just needs to start doing long miles on one!

AntiHero,

Your a bit crazy and I love you for it. I follow your thread occasionally on the .MS board and its great. Thanks for posting here. If Ducati were smart, they would document this journey somehow.

All the best, safe travels!

Tom

Respect!

Do you know when/if you are coming through LA as there are a number of us who live here and would be a great excuse to get together?

Cheers!

Hey guys--yeah, I'll be heading to Newport Beach Ducati for my 15K service on Thurs., after Death Valley. Trip isn't over when I hit LA, though. Heading down to San Diego after, then LA again, then SF.

PM me your info and I'll shoot you mine back and we can figure out when/how/where....

Does Aaron and Mike at DNB know what you've been up to since you took delivery of the Panigale? It's gotta be the first 1199 for a 15K service :p.

There is a great Ducati dealer right in Scottsdale to have your service done. Level 3 master tech and all. Called GoAZ on hayden rd. Good guys to work with. Then take 8 straight to San Diego. Happy trails!

that's a good average speed, it's hard to speed and not getting caught in 16 hours straight.
i have done 450 miles in one day, so i know how freakin' crazy 1036 miles is! dont even know if i can do it, but i will try this :D

Just sent Aaron an email this AM. I sent him the link to my Ride Report way back, so it shouldn't be a surprise to see a beat up Panigale come in on Friday. Should be the highest mileage 1199 in the US (world?). No major issues to speak of, which is saying quite a bit about Ducati's Quality Control, engineering and testing practices.

I actually thought I could make better time, but there were a lot of heavily patrolled 35/45 mph zones coming out of Austin, multiple construction zones/lane closures, and of course nature calling, multiple gas stops, picture opportunities and a visit with my sister in Tucson (all included in the time). All in all I was fairly happy, but it was a long ... day for sure!

Death Valley for the next two days--not sure if I'll have wifi.

How many miles (km's) where you getting from your tank? I was starting to get just over 200km on my trip from Sydney to Phillip Island, near Melbourne before I started seeing the fuel light coming on. Far less in city traffic. I managed 3,400km's, but in over 40hrs. Not even close to your amazing numbers, but I did have the girlfriend on the back with a backpack and numerous pubs to negotiate. lol

:D Really wasn't as bad as it would seem.

As for MPG--at 90-100 I'm getting around 30-32. A far cry from Nebraska/SD, when I actually saw 50.x mpg for a decent stretch. Anything over 100 is in the 20 mpg range. I'm guessing either the new tune killed economy--or more likely the air filter (it must be clogged from all the .... I've driven through) is clogged and the bike is running rich.

Anti hero you are nuts but you are my hero none the less :-D I just finished my half cross country road trip, and from Chicago to West coast, however I did it on a pony, at least it's ducati red haha.
