New Mirrors

A point I will make at the start. Have no affiliation with the supplier. Just posting on a product I have fitted with some pics. Just trying to get something that did not vibrate so much. I posted on Friday and lots of views but no comments. I thought maybe people think I am pushing a product. Not the case but it seems not much interest in mirrors from what I can see.

Spent a few hours today fitting a new DP touring screen and the moto Far mirrors for Italy.

I know its been done to death but the tint of the screen is very light so if you are looking for something dark then its not for you.

The mirrors fit ok and the first thing I noticed is the LED is no where near as bright. I actually prefer the brightness of the std ones and I think its probably safer. I may try to fit the original LED's into the new mirrors.

Looks wise though I think these look better and yet I think I will see almost as much to the rear. Vibration so far is almost nil. On my std mirrors the left one was pretty well useless and the right not much better due to vibration.

Have not had time for a ride yet but looking forward to see how they go.:)

Hey Brad!
Good pics and short review on these brother! As you know I am a fan of these mirrors and had them on my 1198 Corse. I thought they were superior to the OEM ones for what they are actually made for - seeing behind you! I have yet to order these for my 1199 and am actually leaning toward #3 for the more round, shorter design this time. I agree with you that the brightness of the turn signal is important and wonder why they are not as bright? Let us know if you are successful at swapping out the LED wires! Anxious to hear if this works out man! :D

Also- if you are talking about the DP windscreen I agree with you 110% since I have that as well. Def not as dark as I'd like, but do find it provides some better airflow over my brain housing group!

The medium length ones are the same as I have. just not happy with the brightness of the LED indicators.

Test ride to check vibration tomorrow I hope. Let me know what you think.

Swapping out the LED looks like a big job and maybe not even possible. Going to do some work on it tomorrow maybe.

Swap out LED original to brighten FAR indicators

Well just pulled apart an original mirror to see if I could use the LED in the FAR mirror. No can do. The original is a sealed unit. What I did work out though is that if you carefully remove the glass of the original, you can then tighten a phillips head screw inside against a spring to tighten the mirror. This may help stop it vibrating.

This past weekend i installed the FAR mirrors (model #7392, $255) that i ordered from Moto-Science but yet to ride the bike with them on. from an aesthetic perspective i prefer them (versus bar-ends and stock mirros) the question is how will they work. this model mirror is easily a couple of inches shorter than the stockers, but the adjustability seems to allow for a clear reward view of the motorcycle, the next ride will provide the answers. the kit comes with mounting bolts and thick rubber gaskets (reduce some vibration i suppose) specific to the mirror base. they are plug and play and very easy to install, a second set of hands will help in handling the mirrors while mounting them.

thanks again, Moto Science!

they are the same ones I have. Still not had a chance to ride yet. Problem working two jobs.

I am keen to see how vibration levels are. I must admit I am not happy with the level of brightness of the LED's. About half as bright as stock.

I agree on the "D". I had a 1098 and a F4 Agusta at the same time. Got used to the elbow up rear view routine. I find the Pani mirrors more difficult to use.

+1

Had an MV F4 as well and found the slight raising of the elbow to be great for a full rear view. Still used to it now and like you said the Pani mirrors require me to adapt my technique.

I can understand why one would prefer super bright signals, especially those who might ride their bikes in town or commute on them (I do not). The signals themselves are plenty big and appear to be as bright as the smaller LuxMachine block-off plate signals which I used prior to.

I hope they work out for you. ;)

finally got out for a ride today with the new mirrors and also my new DP screen.

Well the mirrors are vibration free and you get a good view to the rear under your arm. With the stock mirrors I could see past my arm to the outside but with the vibration it was useless.

The left mirror developed a bad connection and stopped flashing halfway thru the ride but I know its just the connection at the plug.

I think they look better but I am not happy with the brightness of the indicator lights. I think I may buy the next bigger/longer set. Will have to contact the seller to see if they are definitely brighter. The design for reducing vibration really works though. I wish Ducati used this design on their standard mirror.

On a side note, on the ride today went from bright daylight to dark cloud with the display changing automatically and keeping up a great contrast. Something I took notice of just because of the recent thread about it.

Have two different models from them that I will be doing the mounting of today. Torn between the two- hey maybe ill mount all four somehow and do a review of that?

To be continued. ...........

Gunny will be keen to see what you think of the difference in brightness between your two models. You could always fit one of each on different sides and then see which you prefer and you can compare the lights and rear view all at the same time.

Just a thought. Keen to see what you think.

I'm happy with mine, and am glad I went with the size I did (#7388, medium). The adjustability of the mirrors is a real plus, make sure the stem nut is to the proper tension before mounting them up. I also like the ability to easily see the blind spot but the CRG mirrors still offer the best rearward view in my opinion. The brightness of the flashers is acceptable to me. As for looks, they're my favorite thus "FAR." :)

Thought I'd post this shot up that my buddy Henri from Moto-Science sent me.
I think this one best depicts the sizes he offers compared to the OEM one on very top. The ones I have on my workbench are the two on the bottom. I am partial to the last one but we will see here in a few hours. :D

I have the one second from the bottom. You can see it in my comparison pics. Lot smaller than standard. Just not happy with the brightness of the LED's.

Vibration free though.

Yeah know what ya mean man. Spoke w Henri today who told me how the wiring is ass backwards on this bike. They had to reverse the black n red inside the shrink rubber on them. Dont know why they are not as bright, perhaps one of the electrical gurus on here can shed light on it.

Did you see my thread review today?

Btw- the ones you have are the extra ones I am either selling or sending back to him. Maybe I will post them.

No mate will look for your review now. Thanks. I am going to send my ones back if he will take them and swap over for the next larger ones. Second from top.

-- didn't you install the 7388/89 ? ---- 7392/93 = the shortest one ?

the largest of the three (very similar in size to the OEM mirrors) i ended up returning. the medium sized ones (#7388, my apologies if i said otherwise) i decided to keep, and like very much.

thanks,
