1199 R exhaust an Akra?

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I figured that. My question was if the SL and the new R uses the same headers as the current base/S headers in terms of weight.

This is for the whiners, you know who you are:

Perhaps you think that the "headers" to which I have been referring compose a large part of the exhaust system.

Perhaps you think it would cause less confusion to call it a titanium/steel/carbon/aluminum/fiberglass system, or that any street-legal exhaust in the world is made 100% out of titanium.

Perhaps you think it's a good idea for a manufacturer to accept a solution that they know will compromise long-term reliability.

Perhaps you think that you are a good enough rider to feel a few grams of weight difference on a 205 hp motorcycle.

Perhaps you think that Ducati didn't have good reasons to use SS headers, or that it wouldn't have used titanium headers if they had been an acceptable solution.

Perhaps you think that there aren't enough appealing features and details on the bike, and that changing the header material is the missing key to increasing its desirability.

Perhaps you think that after giving the Panigale R a near-Superbike engine with titanium mufflers and exhaust tubes, race-focused geometry, and world-leading electronics, the engineers picked the few inches of tubing next to the heads as the ideal part to save costs on.

You'd be wrong. :D

....... hell mate
Looks like you are the one whining

If I could afford an SL or a second Panigale I would buy whatever and would not give a .... what exhaust is on it

I bought the akra for my bike because I like playing around with it
It's my hobby

Yesterday I bougt some Ti bolts just for the fun of it
If that makes me a whinner then
Guilty

Awesome I just found out that titanium headers are lighter than SS . I just bought them for the colour they go .......true story.
I have changed the wheel nuts to titanium as well and can feel the weight saving its a worthwhile modification.

tj is from italy. his posts seem to be like he works for the company or is a huge fanboy of ducati. thats fine but dont say full ti system when its not.

also if SS were better why even offer the Ti headers. why is akra evo line full TI?

finally long term reliability with this bike are you kidding me. thats an oxymoron right there. like jumbo shrimp or something

double 0 and white pani have the full Ti systems (real full systems) and both have no complaints.

If I recall correctly, he is actually the project manager for the SL, though obviously is likely working on other things now.

I'm here to explain and clear up misconceptions regarding the bikes, for those who are genuinely interested rather than just complaining or trolling.

For many, the appreciation of engineering excellence gets blurred by unrealistic ownership expectations.

Some get it, some get upset by it and then act out.

What to say..... customer is always right maybe

I like cast-iron and non-stainless steel. I guess I'm the only real man left on this board...well except for Prince Albert.

Trolls, vote with your wallet. If you don't like it, don't buy it.....or buy it, whine about it, swear to sell it and never buy another, end up keeping it, mod it out, then whine some more, and then buy the newer or next model up, whine about the upcoming model, then buy that one anyway.

Don't worry, we're used to it now.

actually get it right you buy it unseen and not ridden mod it out then have all the problems then cant sell it cause resale value took a big dump and quality control is terrible. one thing is right though never buy another one.

Your post make me want to stab myself in the eye .

The negativity never ever ever stops.

Seriously if the bike makes you that that unhappy just sell it take the hit and move on with your life.

End of problem

Tell you what mark419ny. I don't know how often you make it to Europe but the next time you do, come to Bologna and let me know. You can eat some good food, drink some good wine, tour the Ducati factory, then I'll sit down with you in our cafe and we can discuss your thoughts on the bikes and what you'd like to see in the future. Even if you've already sold your 1199. I'm serious.

It won't help with any problems you've had with bikes in the past, but maybe it will help you see what the company and its people are really like - generally, a group of enthusiasts who do take pride in what we make, do care about what customers think, and do strive to produce the highest performing, most advanced, most desirable motorcycles possible. Sometimes we succeed, and sometimes we fail - but the effort is always there.
