1199 R exhaust an Akra?

The silencer is all the R will need as it already has TI pipes from the headers just as the SL does. That and the included UP map.

Or you can buy it without the words "Ducati performance" and the up-map for $1700 cheaper online from one of the various sources mike and I posted about :)

Several have asked, so here it is: CONFIRMED - In the U.S. the 2015 Panigale R will come with full Ti Akra homologated exhaust ONLY, it will NOT come with the optional non-homologated racing mufflers like the SL did.

My sales rep keeps telling me that my new R will show up with two exhausts. I told him that wasn't correct. He gave me a quote to install the new one anyway. I was rolling my eyes over the phone.

It really is a shame when the clientele knows more than the sales person!

Even if it came with a 2nd eXhaust they shouldnt charge u for the install of it. Thats assinine.

So the homologated exhaust has a catalytic converter and the flapper valve then right ??? Or does it come with the stock exhaust from the 1299 And then the homologated exhaust on the side?
It's also confusing and so sad that these dealerships don't even know yet

Everyone knows the DP stamp adds 5hp. :D

JK. Thanks for adding non-dealer info to save us $.

Just when I decide it's better off to not spend $11-12,000 on a 1299 and just get the 2015 R because it's the only one that's specced well and comes with everything you want (light enough wheels, the full Akrapovic exhaust and proper ohlins throughout), it then doesn't actually come with everything you want!

Dammmmit!

Could care less about the first 6 inches of the headers not being titanium but homologated Akrapovic mufflers with catalytic converters and a servo/flapper valves? It's an R for Christ sake! It's a race/track bike, it shouldn't come with a track exhaust made legal for the street it should come with a proper track use exhaust for exactly that.

What else does the R not come with this year that they are going to make me buy? Racing screen, mirror block of plates etc?

That would limit sales. Not really a good idea for business. Just how KTM did with their RC8R which they had a street and track versions of the same bike. This would not be a great idea for Ducati. The same argument can be had for the SL but once again, buyers are given the option to make it track ready since most buyers of either bike will never take it to the track. Majority of buyers don't buy premium bikes to track it and the ones who do track a streetbike, have no problems making it a dual purpose bike. You're talking about a very small percentage of owners. As a business, they have to appeal to the masses, not the select few.

Didn't mean it like that. I meant a box with a track kit like it always been done in the past with the full exhaust and racing screen etc.

Gotcha. Maybe to cut costs?? I know the past R's used to be like $40k USD and since the last two R's have been $10k less, going up a few thousand on the 15R was more than enough. Who knows.

To be fair guys the R homologated exhaust is more than adequate, looks great and don't even try to kid yourself the Akra slips will sound better......... this thing is loud!

I had the same doubts, but now I own the thing I have no inclination to buy the Akra slips/system........ which incidentally would mean I would be buying parts that everyone can have, not something unique to the SL or the R.

With the homologated exhaust, I agree it's not as pretty, but you get the best of both worlds and without heat from the law

That is very true.

It would be by far the nicest homologated/roadworthy exhaust ever but for the price of an R, I want to be happy every aspect of the bike, I don't want to have to compromise. Otherwise I may as well have just got the base model.

Able to offer any insight into what the homologated slipons are like? Does the exhaust have a removable servo motor and a flapper valve, do they have a removable insert catalytic converter like some Akrapovic exhausts for KTMs?

How does the new R compare to the last years?

I think the 15R is the best thing going. Best bike going and if your going to go nuts, its a great platform to do so.
