Gentlemen,
All of this hearsay regarding dyno results is comical. The 1199 is in a completely different league compared to the BMW. On the dyno, perhaps the two are roughly similar. I currently own both bikes and I assure you that both are obscenely fast - way faster than I need, way faster than I can handle.
The 1199 out classes the BMW in several areas. The 1199 causes complete sensory overload for it's rider. The machine is intensely beautiful, yet produces a brutally powerful, deep, rich exhaust note. The BMW pales in comparison.
The 1199 has the electronic package that lifts the bike to the next level. The ABS and TC systems are robust are adjustable on the fly. BMW - no. 1199's engine breaking control is sublime and very useful in the real world by all of us, adjustable on the fly, while riding. BMW - no. Ohlins suspension is also adjustable on the fly. BMW - no.
I love my S1000RR and will be keeping both bikes, but guys, come on now - the 1199 is in a different league all together. My sense is that both bikes perform roughly equivalently in straight line acceleration. I've owned my BMW for 2 years now and the 1199 for a week - I'll not be able to tap the full power of either bike, so this attribute is essentially meaningless for me, and I'll bet this is the situation for the majority of owners. The 1199 out classes in every other way.
