Hi guys,

Been lusting after a 1199 Panigale since last year. I post on the other ducati forums, but found this model specific, so decided to join.

I have a 99 748, that I have had since new. Never got around to liking the 749/999 bikes.

Almost pulled the trigger on trading my beloved 748 on a 1098 last summer, when I heard about the 1199 and fell in love with it.

I have two other bikes (Suzuki 750 and 600) and I ride about 25,000 miles a year. My Ducati sees about 3K miles a year.

I haven't bought a new Ducati since 1999, so just trying to get a feel for here for some info, before getting hosed by a dealer.

I am looking for a base Panigale 1199.

1) Are they all order only?
2) Is it a one year model only, or will there be 2013s?
3) Are the prices MSRP or is there mark up?

I appreciate the help.

I am in Los Angeles.

Welcome to the 1199 Forum!

1) My experience in San Diego is you can pre-order with a deposit or pay in full in advance for a bike. Depending on the demand in your area you may not get it for a month, two months, or more. I pre-ordered my 1199 S/ABS earlier this year and recently changed the order to a Base/ABS. Even though I changed my order late, my dealer told me I should only have about a one month wait, but he would have more clarification soon.

2) Not sure about the 2013 bikes yet. Given the success of this bike so far I'm sure there will be a 2013 and further.

3) My Dealer initially quoted me MSRP and what other's have posted nationwide is most people are paying right around MSRP with tax, title, and registration added into the price. Some here and there have gotten small hook-ups with a slightly lower price, a free first service, or some other type of freebee.

Hope I answered some questions. Im sure other people will try to clarify a little bit too.

Thanks for the kind welcome and quick reply. I actually got my 748 serviced at San Diego Ducati (the one in Downtown) for 3 years while I lived there on a work contract. Glad to know you can pre order or pay in full advanced, and you can still get one. I will contact my local dealers here, and if I can't get one, then will look further out. I am in no hurry to get one (as in I HAVE to have one next month), but I want to get one this calender year. When are you getting yours?

MSRP it is then, thanks again.

I'm in the same boat. I'm in no hurry at all to get one since I am still trying to sell my R1 before I buy the 1199. My dealer told me I should have it within a month or so, and he couldn't give me a more precise date until he reiceived more info from Ducati NA. He told me not too many people ordered the Base model so I shouldn't have to wait too terribly long. There are a few Ducati dealers around LA, OC, and SD so you shouldnt have too hard of a time getting one. Good luck and happy shopping!

Thanks again. I can't stand the tricolor one. I prefer having the Base, so hope what you say works in my favor.

Called a few local dealers, and seems the one I bought my 748 is having a 1199 opening party tomorrow, which works out. I will stop by and see whats going on :)

90210, As your in LA you would probably want to check out ProItalia. They also appear to have the most Panigale accessories in stock. I would take lead times with a real pinch of salt. I got a confirm for a Tricolore in San Francisco (Ducati confirm 30th March) and I got cautioned that I may be looking at the end of the year.

XBOX, I am with you man. I am very glad that I went for the Tricolore, I got told today by a dealer that they believe that the Tricolore will ONLY be on offer in 2012. Thus, I am sticking with my order and if I have till wait to year end, then so be it. So, XBOX best on you.

Just coming back from a launch party. It was a Tri and got this to say:
Do NOT piss on the Tri unless you've seen one in the flesh!

Never liked it on pics but looking at it is something else
