So how do you like the R so far?
-- i am liking it a lot - it has to be the easiest ducati i have ever broken in, and since thats where i'm at with it right now i can only give you that perspective, given that i try to stay reasonably close to break-in rpm's....however, this motor allows tons more freedom of use early on (compared to older ducs) that i couldn't help loving it immediately - the motor feels "instantly on" even on its sports setting, which has a few air balls for throttle response - original 916's, and those that soon followed, (sedici not included) left me shaking my head with "break-in" rpm's so low (4k) that i actually couldn't stand it (i still bought new ones though, go figure)
-- with my first 25 mile ride home from the dealer, i knew it was going to be a great bike - suspension definitely rock hard out back and a touch too soft up front(way too much dive from simple brake tap) - i got the front managed (for the time being) by tightening up the preload - the rear will wait for me to get sag, at the very least, looked at....if they tell me i'm within proper sag/susp settings overall i'll leave it alone, but something tells me its a bit on the tighter side of reasonable - i've had a few pogo shots off the seat, and i usually know when to expect them....a few were a bit off the charts in normality for street riding - yesterday was its first true day ride, where the rpm's managed to paw upward, but in keeping an eye on that, the overall feeling for me with this motorcycle, is nothing short of greatness....easily, lots and lots of fun is packed into this motorcycle, and i'm no track addict...strictly street riding is all i need....
-- i've had a few mysterious stalls, hic-cups, and one "almost, this close, about to call a trailer" fail to restart, and another, simply keep cranking until you feel the heat of the starter motor thru the heat shield restart..... that left me wondering....given i thought those issues have long since been resolved prior to the sedici....but maybe the lack of those extra 2 cylinders, lighter flywheel, along with ti-rods and shorter stroke and race-evo system conspire against the fueling....can't say for sure......remains to be seen.....
-- i'm eagerly waiting more miles, and being able to use the tach freely, let alone get an understanding of the settings and how to toggle in, out, and around the instrument screen.......SPMF (Smiles Per Miles factor) is mighty high indeed !!
