1199r - Where is Race Mode ?

Ok, that's scary - you're are riding the most advanced superbike on the planet, and you don't know how to read your dsh indicators! lol

Thats cuz I don't spend too time looking down while my skin is peeling off from the out"R"ageous speeds this bike generates so quickly!!

No stall here but did have one restart where I let off the button @ first cough. Cracked the throttle on the second one and had zero issues after.

It really is the easiest ride I've had as well.

No pogo action as I had the sag set, and as we all know where our potential off the seat spots on the roads are; I've nailed them and barely had to get off the seat. On my S; which did not have the proper sag; I could get bounced right off the pegs @ times.

I'll shoot you my settings if you need them for indexing.

-- yea, sure......im all of 200+lbs - not knowing where the front was to start, i needed 2 full turns to cure the dip/dive on braking - maybe 1.5 turns would have been ok....but getting the ruler out will be soon enough - the back for sure , well i think, is a bit tight......but, i will wait for the ruler to tell the tale....."tale of the tape" :)

-- and you're right about the throttling.....it is the only way it finally started, on both my occasions

I'm 250+, so my numbers won't do you any good.

Trying to remember where I saw that rear sag tool for 1199's...I'll search it out and post it up again.

-- i am liking it a lot - it has to be the easiest ducati i have ever broken in, and since thats where i'm at with it right now i can only give you that perspective, given that i try to stay reasonably close to break-in rpm's....however, this motor allows tons more freedom of use early on (compared to older ducs) that i couldn't help loving it immediately - the motor feels "instantly on" even on its sports setting, which has a few air balls for throttle response - original 916's, and those that soon followed, (sedici not included) left me shaking my head with "break-in" rpm's so low (4k) that i actually couldn't stand it (i still bought new ones though, go figure)

-- with my first 25 mile ride home from the dealer, i knew it was going to be a great bike - suspension definitely rock hard out back and a touch too soft up front(way too much dive from simple brake tap) - i got the front managed (for the time being) by tightening up the preload - the rear will wait for me to get sag, at the very least, looked at....if they tell me i'm within proper sag/susp settings overall i'll leave it alone, but something tells me its a bit on the tighter side of reasonable - i've had a few pogo shots off the seat, and i usually know when to expect them....a few were a bit off the charts in normality for street riding - yesterday was its first true day ride, where the rpm's managed to paw upward, but in keeping an eye on that, the overall feeling for me with this motorcycle, is nothing short of greatness....easily, lots and lots of fun is packed into this motorcycle, and i'm no track addict...strictly street riding is all i need....

-- i've had a few mysterious stalls, hic-cups, and one "almost, this close, about to call a trailer" fail to restart, and another, simply keep cranking until you feel the heat of the starter motor thru the heat shield restart..... that left me wondering....given i thought those issues have long since been resolved prior to the sedici....but maybe the lack of those extra 2 cylinders, lighter flywheel, along with ti-rods and shorter stroke and race-evo system conspire against the fueling....can't say for sure......remains to be seen.....

-- i'm eagerly waiting more miles, and being able to use the tach freely, let alone get an understanding of the settings and how to toggle in, out, and around the instrument screen.......SPMF (Smiles Per Miles factor) is mighty high indeed !!

Funny about the mysterious stall issues because I've had that happen to me a few times. I have the base model but it has stalled 3 times in neutral after starting the motor for the first time in the day and I've had 4 stalls while riding. I am 100% that it isn't my fault because I've been able to release the clutch further out while getting on the throttle without stalling but when it stalled a few times, the clutch lever was pretty darn close to the handle bar. Very weird. The scariest stall I had was during engine breaking in first gear while approaching a stop light doing about 15-20mph. Out of habit, I had my clutch hand ready to pull in the lever as the bike approached a stop but it was just resting on the lever. Next thing I know, bike shuts down! I was like WTF?? Luckily, I reacted in time to pull in the clutch lever and came to a stop and started the bike again after a few seconds.

Is this a common issue or is it time to head to the dealer and see what the hell is going on?

Found it...
This should help in a DYI situation...

CORSE DYNAMICS Ride Height Tool: Ducati 1199 Panigale

thanks for that....ferraci had one of those many moons ago.....i have been leaving sag for my shop to do - they are fairly well dialed in (no pun intended) on getting it set correctly.....i was simply too anxious to leave on day 1...i need to get a few more miles, and get myself over there fro some fresh oil and such - can't wait :).......seems like the weather is going to force me/us to

-- i reported my issues the same afternoon....my shop is a-ok with listening, and they haven't hung up on me yet :) - did not have much to say about it though, and i didn't expect them to, but it's duly noted......

-- twins/ducati have somewhat of a reputation for it.....at least the ones i have owned shared some of those same "technicalities" - stalling when you least expect it, with least amount of notice, like both feet on the pegs in a u-turn.....i needed a new side panel after that one :(

-- i guess getting those big pistons to stay lit up on the stroke required to make everything happy, can get things kind of stretched to their limits at times...i'd have hoped it was a thing of the past....evidently not....

-- pushing my new 1199r off to the side of the road awaiting restart wasn't much fun either

Yea. Talk about embarrassing. Good thing we have helmets on and no one knows our identity!

I was making a left turn and it stalled. I was waiting behind a car but the car started to move, my bike died and I just held up traffic until it stopped making that noise (starter? engine?) so I could start it again. I know if I saw someone on such a nice bike and they had something like that happen to them, I'd talk so much crap...."Look at this newbie. Bad ass bike but can't keep the engine running"

Been there done that!

Always cycle key to off and then back on before igniting...always worked in the past (the few times I needed it to)

It is beyond easy and only requires a little bit of know-how, a measuring device, a wrench/spanner and a helper. You can do it yourself....why wait?

-- i guess it's one of my little luxuries :).....it shouldn't be too long a wait anyway......

Just an FYI, its orange if it's been changed. If you restore defaults, it will be green.

-- i did know that, i'm just wondering if changing the display configuration means that it would go orange as well...

-- it should be either Green for default settings or Orange for modified, so i guess a modified display qualifies and therefore my Sport icon is Orange

...if you follow what i'm saying, am i correct?

The State of New York has deemed race mode unacceptable for street use and has disabled it while you were sleeping.
