Good Evening my fellow riders,
Im looking to replace the chain and potentially sprockets and hub on my recently acquired super duper low mileage bike. Here are my reasons:
1) Bike is seven years old - all original parts i.e. chain
2.)Lipstick on this pig could be attractive
3.)Performance - Im a back Road street rider that at times likes to cruise, but usually push the boundaries of speed and cornering through rural streets.

Whats a good option for me to consider as far as upgrades to the chain and sprockets - ??? I like the gold chains - maybe because Im Italian. Im thinking of adding some blue accent (Ti) bits to accent the Ohlins+Termignoni tags ..... Im ready to hear and see what we all have to say!

I recently just upgrade to a 520 quickchange kit on my 1299. I went with JT sprockets and sprocket carrier mostly because of price. Steel front sprocket and aluminum rear sprocket. I bought off ebay and all 3 parts came to about $250CAD. For the chain its really nice that we only need 104-106 links(gearing dependent) due to the shorter single sided swingarm compared to japanese bikes. So i bought a 110 link EK 3D 520GP chain from fortnine.ca and it was $150CAD shipped. 9400lb tensile strength and everyone knows they are great chains. So total was about $300USD/$400CAD. Replacement rear sprockets are about $65CAD and steel ones are available. If you add upgraded cush drives or a nice outer flange you can easily double the price of the kit.

I just tell him what I want (more like he tells me) and he gives me pricing and it’s less than I can get it for anywhere else

CNC RACING has some cool pieces

I love these:

I was just looking at those Cush drives last night. I like. The 3D chains look sweet too.
so, the 520 conversion saves weight, and if add a tooth or two to the rear sprocket I would increase the take off response?

What about this Driven Racing ? Can I get an explanation or opinion on “Quick Change”?
any reviews from here on the quality for Driven Racing?

You dont need to get a quick change sprocket carrier. Supersprox and some others make carrier and sprocket complete like oem in 520 pitch with in either aluminum or steel or possibly aluminum center and steel teeth. If you want a bit of looks the best looking imo is black carrier, black sprocket, red poly cush drives, black aem flange, silver nuts, red axle nut, gold chain or black/gold chain. If you're going up in teeth to 15/41 you'll need 106 link chain.

This one has black nuts and a gold/magnesium carrier and looks pretty good too. So you can get an idea. The chain is natural. Gold is much better I think.

The 520 GP chain says rated to 1000cc's - All information recommends the 520Z (=>1200+cc's) for above that (1199/1299) etc.... Any Opinions? Im definitely getting this chain - I see it ranges in price online from 165-245 USD.... quite the spread. Thats for 120 links, which I believe is what I am looking for. Ive actually seen some "sets" which include the chain and f/r sprockets for about 225....

The 520Z is only rated for 1000cc aswell and for 'supersport' use which is usually the term used to describe 600cc machines. The 525Z is rated to 1200cc. For us we need to realize our 1199cc or 1285cc twin engines are equivalent to 1000cc inline 4 engines. The 520GP chain is rated for road racing and for 1000cc machines up to 220Hp. I doubt you will find another 520 chain with as high of strength rating.
