Yes, the track bodywork suppliers don't attempt to hook into all the little grommets, etc. A "one-sided" splash mold can re-create the outside shape of a panel quite accurately, and we can do that in our garages, but getting the details right and reinforcing tabs, inserts, etc., on the back side all takes a whole different degree of tooling and expertise.
On the flip-side, the track body suppliers know that all those little tabs and details are not crash-worthy. I've had my 1199R on the ground with sharkskinz twice, once at low speed in the grass when I ran out of runoff room and had to ditch it before I hit a fence, and one time on the tarmac when I lost the front at about 60mph, getting after it too early on a green track (yes, duck sh!# is slippery). Bike survived both incidents basically unscathed. I had to replace a handlebar, a front axle slider, a clutch lever, a footpeg, and repaint the sharksinz bodywork, which was really optional as there was no structural damage to it. I guess, where I'm going with this is use the stock panels for display purposes only...
