So this will surely make so people cringe. Coming from a CBR where I would change my oil every 3k miles I have am holding to the oil change that Ducati says you don't need untill 7500miles. Call me stupid, crazy or what have you but if they say it can handle it then I'm going to challenge there claims. I'm rolling on 5500miles right now and haven't changed it since the 600mile brake in.

This is my commuter bike with occasional twisty road rides on the weekend. So it's not like I taking it to the track only and running the piss out of it.

Have any of you done what I'm doing g with bad results.

I change it once a year. This would be the bare minimum if you dont ride it much. If you're doing that kinda mileage in less than a year and not bouncin off the rev limiter n ridin it normally then it should be fine. I probably do 1500 or so very casual miles. No aggressive riding. Bike sits a lot as I rotate through 3 bikes.

Max i go is 3000 Miles on full synthetic. I just got my 600 mile service down as well. i'll be swapping to full syn and doing my own change around the 1500 mile mark.

I agree with the above, especially if you're using high quality spec oils. Hard track use will dictate oil changes by the number of track sessions; I think 4-6 is OK - along with the tire changes.

If your using high quality synthetic oil then the oil has been designed to last at least that long 7500miles otherwise ducati would have said different.

Though I changed it myself at 5000kms cause the morons at the top Italian service centre in WA never changed it at first service.

If you read the manual it says 7500 miles or once a year, whatever comes first.
