Amazing that they can add all these great options and keep the price decent. Good job ducati!

My dealer IS already started to take deposit. I just put a deposit on a scrambler but might have to drop it and put it on a 1299s. The seattle motorcycle show is coming in a week or two I'll take some actually pic of the 1299

Oh man! This bike is gonna be sweet.

Was planning to buy a new 13' Tricolore, now I'm not so sure. Definitely should wait and see if price drops on 1199 models at least.

anyone saw the R1 (M) presentation

they were proud as .... to have 199kg wet weight (with mag wheels)

and even more proud of a carbon fiber version of the bike (without mentioning weight or power specs) - cool is a sort of upgraded DDA+ though, android connectivity, mapping changes , etc...

happy to see that ducati were the first today coming out with the new chit.

Looking forward to the Honda Rcv213V-S Halo bike at an unworldly price but still fascinated to see what it offers....

I'm going to enjoy the 2012 Tricolore that I bought last month whilst Ducati work through the first year of the 1299 and then a red 1299S for 2016 would be nice.

One of the more interesting things I see in that spec sheet is "auto tire and final ratio calibration" in the "Ducati Electronics" section. No more OEM Pirelli-specific TC, etc. Nice to see if that's so; I could use that a lot more than the extra power. Both wouldn't suck... ;)

Not sure about the new semi-active Ohlins. Sounds like it's just changing the settings like the current DES, but doing it on the fly based on lean angle and accelerometer values, rather than a full, super-fast-acting solenoid-based system.

Yes, the tire-programming capabilities from the SL are being put on all the bikes next year, so no longer tied to the Pirellis! Very exciting!

The Ohlins EC is nothing like the other semi-active systems out there which are designed to respond to the road surface. This is the Ohlins system developed for MotoGP before electronic suspension was banned, it's programmable based upon the lean angle and acceleration/braking data from the bike. So on the track for example, when you brake hard for a corner it will sense the braking g-forces and apply more compression damping to limit the front-end dive, then when you've entered the corner and got off the brake it will sense the lean angle and soften up the damping for better compliance mid-corner. It will do this WITHOUT the unpredictable adjustments generated based upon bumps you encounter in a turn, which is the nemesis of all the other semi-active systems on the track (i.e. the BMW HP4). Predictability is crucial for going fast on the track and that's what this system is designed to be, while still reaping the benefits of dynamic suspension. I think this is how it should be, those other skyhook-like systems are great for touring bikes but using that kind of system on the track is a huge compromise.

I bet Ohlins offers the tech from that as an aftermarket package for R owners etc. All of the relevant data is already being processed in the ECU (assuming it's the same ECU). They started to with the Mechatronic shock interacting with the Kawi Kit ECU's on the zx-10. Fascinating that it's already taking such a massive leap in potential.

Thanks, Jarel - as shaka says, it does sound at lot like Mechatronic 2.0. Wonder what the response time is?

Sure is going to make setup interesting...

Best upgrade on the new bike are the foot pegs ;)

They listen... they changed the pegs for the 1299 and the seat (based on the 899 feedback) :)

I am looking at the photos on the Ducati website and the photos from the show. The front of the bike looks different in the photos of the live show versus that of the official website. Maybe is the angle of the view... not sure.

Not the angle; the fairing is wider for better wind protection, as Domenicali noted in his presentation. The 1199's add-on wings are built in now, basically.

Interesting, the website shows the new Ducati 1299 Quickshifter allows for clutchless up & down shift WITHOUT needing to ease off the throttle. The new BMW s1000rr allows for clutchless up & downshift but only when the throttle is completely closed I believe.

Maybe I was not clear on what I meant... it was the angle...

The vent on the sides of the front fairing (where the front fairing meets the side fairing) looked less pronounced in the Ducati website than in the presentations and the images I had seen. Here is the photo from the Ducati site:
