1299S First Race Weekend Review

Hang a big clock in your pit area and make a checklist. I didn't do this my first race weekend and made all kinds of stupid little mistakes ranging from not topping off my tank after morning practice (resulting on the bike running out of gas on the cool-down lap) to forgetting to plug warmers in, and my personal favorite was forgetting to turn my transponder on during my first race win.

Went to a checklist system and watched the clock religiously and my stress level fell to about 1/10th what it was.

Great info Shaka! Thx!

The bike is still being raced in WERA. Chaotic (Chris) is pretty active over on the WERA forum, but I think a few of the newer personalities caused him to take a break from this forum.

To bad. I was hoping to keep getting his feedback here. Also miss Kope on here.

Chaotic is still racing the .... out of his bike. I think this forum just isn't as interesting to him as the other ones he's on.

Whatever happened to Kope? I really admired that guys passion and enthusiasm, but I was worried about the mentality he took to the track. That guy was burning through his crashes without injury at an alarming rate.

Kope's on fb. He's still tracking and has added a Desmocedici to his stable. He tracks that one also.

Just had to speed bag myself!

Was reading this from beginning like it was 2017 instead of a friggin year ago!! LMFAO!

I was about to tell Chaotic how outstanding of a write up the whole thing was from the very beginning, and see how things have been going since last month - except it was a YEAR AGO last month you friggin Toolbag Gunny! ;)

Thanks for the additional input for whomever filled us in on why he left etc. Too bad since that dude was pretty cool and I was looking forward to reading more Race Stories from him!
Trust me, I know what was meant by conflicting member personalities too! :(

Anyone who stays in touch with the guy should really reach out and see what you can do about getting him to return - if he's still running that Ducati the same?

To all the rest of yoos guys Club Racing, keep it going, live the dream, and stay safe!

OOHRAH !!

My fault for bumping this Gunny. Chris has left us hanging since September on this and I'd really love for him to update this thread. I'd be very interested as to the results of his experimentation between dynamic and fixed settings on the track. Also any problems he might be encountering racing this bike.

Please forgive my ignorance however I have one question. What class can you race the 1299 in. Don't they have a 1200cc limit on racing twins?

WSBK has the 1200cc limit. In club racing the 1299 is eligible for F1, HWT, A Superbike, A Superstock, and one more that I'm forgetting.
