15R homologated Akra

.....@ $3600 thats the same as DP Akra....so why bother.....that isn't even a grand cheaper (?)

...and while seemingly an easy install, those RB modules require you to spend time calibrating

Let me dive into this a bit further. I'm not sure you quite understand the difference between the DP and EVO Systems. The cans are exactly the same. The DP gets the almighty Ducati Performace etching and that's it. The DP headers are 2mm bigger than the EVO (60mm vs 58mm). Then the DP system comes with a USB up-map.

As far as why bother? Because you will always get better results from a specific tune for your bike vs a generic universal map.

This is all coming from a guy that has the DP Akra. I bought it from my dealer for $2100 because of a warranty claim and they screwed up. I sold the up-map for $250, so I got the system for a steal. If this had not been the case, I would have absolutely gone the EVO route.

Dyno charts from my bike. Generic factory tune. This is one messed up line:

And after. It pulls like an absolute freight train with the auto tune with zero flat spots. Pay attention to the AFR line vs the previous graph. This is with the Dean Adams exhaust.

Now I get it.. @ 1st I thought the Akra full was the same. So there is a DP,and evo. I can get the Evo for low as 3.5k and get a better tune from RapidBike, vs DP system for like $4,800 with a generic up map tune..

Go find a Ducati Performance Akrapovic for $3600. I'll wait...

Not sure what you mean by calibrating. It's plug and play.

sorry...i meant the akra mufflers...without the cat, that bolts up to the 1199r titanium pipes

i think plug 'n play "is what it is"....from what i know (which often times ain't much) most systems do better with a dyno run and after market fuel piggyback systems tweaking.....

Although I personally didn't care about the weight loss since my only reason for purchase was the sound, the full Akrapovic Evo system weighs less than the old full Termi system by about 5 pounds....give or take a pound. Either way, the termis sound stock compared to the Akra. Not anywhere near the same. The weight loss and power gains are just a bonus.

Ok thanks for the input. I'll just go Akrapovic full evo

Would there be any difference when adding the aftermarket Akra cans to the 15R exhaust versus adding the full Akra Evo system? I am wondering since most of the oem 15R exhaust is titanium anyway.

the oem 15R exhaust has a SS manifold at the headers and it has the butterfly valve before the cans

the full akra evo is titanium all the way through and has no butterfly valve before the cans

Thanks! I would probably leave the oem ss/to headers and get the slips ons.

That seems the best choice as I've heard that lots of people were damaging the titanium headers whilst racing / on track hence the stainless steel manifold on the oem 15R. I'd be interested in knowing how much the butterfly valve weighs but the main difference looks to be in the 0.6kg servo which is easy to remove anyhow.

I can't bring myself to buy the cans as they are £2600 which is ridiculous money but they are certainly the most obvious needed upgrade and made a big difference as can be seen in my video chasing my mate that I posted earlier in this thread.

Countless OEM (stainless) headers have cracked on this forum. I haven't seen a single pic of a Ti header or manifold doing so.

Unrelated but there is power to be picked up from the Ti header. It was also around 3 lb less than stock with the whole system dropping around 12lbs IIRC. This is comparing against the OEM pipe with all the flaps/servo/butterfly bs removed.

ETA: I couldn't get your link to work.

Titanium is 3x stronger than stainless steel. Your manifold comment doesn't make sense.

Have you seen these break first hand?

....the Ti Evo headers do in fact break...(i've heard it from someone who spent 10k on the Long Tube Race System) (maybe installations play a role)

I'm not saying it's impossible. I was more referring to the "hence the stainless steel manifold" comment, implying that the manifold is SS instead of Ti for structural purposes.
