wel, here we go...

a i will change the fairings to a Carbon race suit, it will require a paintjob..

as i love the older series and still see the main jumps as early 851, 998R to the Panigale... i would like to go oldschool Roche replica on the styling.

it should look like this somehow

hope you like it

i'm not so keen on the alu stripes on the fuel tank so i'll have to see how to solve this...

a solution would be a carbon RS tank to get close to the Roche rep philosophy..
apparently thé way to hightn'n output sounds to be the enlarged airbox under the RS tank..;
so i'm looking for one..
any suggestions are welcome..

Thats peachy that is. Proper classic style cool and suits the Pani beautifully. Less is definitely more as they say;) Best alternative paint job i"ve seen hands down. I would copy that if I was up for a change. Simple things are always the best.

Come one get a grip , std bike £14700 , r at £27000 ... For Ti rods , light flywheel , adjustable swing arm position , you'll junk the des and abs so why .....? It looks like the adjustable swing arm position can be retro fitted all bar 1mm so why do an "r" , other than for homologation ? Ti rods are only a response to superstockers shitting themselves when given an extra 500 revs in euro superstocks . What are you promoting selling dude ?

Good point about DES. I wish the Ducati's DES is more like the bmw, which is true electric suspension that is self adjusting to road conditions. Either that or give us an R without DES

no sense in being sensible!

just to stay in sink with other Fora :

Well, there is also the real open Termi, the DDA, the GPS, .

but you're absolutely right... there is no sensible explanation why to go R over standard and mods...
Problem with Ducati is that it has nothing to do about sensible, remember... t
his is my last 'active' project... i'm 53 and i ve decided to give me 3 more track years... and i want to do it on a bike that makes me tick anytime i see it or think about it... the grin factor as they call it...

Call it a midlife crisis. For those who yield to the temptation of younger flesh, no use going for the decent sensible girl either is there? :)
with most of those who have, there is no contradiction of having money and having sense... most of them who earned it themselves have had to have loads of sense, or they woudln't have gotten were they did.. :)

i ve got some experience with mods... starting of from the best base possible does make sense... one tends to forget that eventually all mods mustbe installed and logistically coordinated ( buying parts, buying wrong parts, getting the bike to the shop and back , then 1 part is the wrong one and has to be installed another time... trackdays are paid for and the bike isn't ready... been there seen it done it... :) )

so that's why, i am at piece with the choice
Now just enjoy the project... :)

Step 2 in the design : a bit of refinement : intorducing the R Roche theme

I really like the retro look you are going for.

With the DP rearsets, you do not need the reverse quickshifter. They are designed so you can have Standard or Reverse pattern with the stock quickshifter.

Ok,

today was a big day in the project. It was decided that the suspension and wheels will be changed drastically.

the option chosen is a widetrack Ohlins gas fork will be put on mag wheels
so a set of new FGR200 forks were picked up with a set of OZ racing wheels.
the size will be 16,5 inch to accomodate pirrelli slicks
if i am to believe the seller, who has a strong reputation to uphold, the stuff is of the Altea team..

were now on the look out for a 52/58 triples T to hold them.. it looks like Roby moto has a set.

next step is to decide on the brake...

in the mean time some smaller kit to go with it was also acquired

choosing for sligthly higher clip ons and a race airfilter
an electronic pair of tire warmers was added as well..
and an extra racng bubble as it will need some painting and i want ot keep the orignal R stuff untouched.

Steve is working away on the design and he's doing some great work ! i'm looking forward to post the results...

this is going to be some bike.. :)

would you not be better off going with 17 tyre at the back as you have a greater tyre choice and also a 16.5 will it not screw up the electronic suspension and DTC.

BTW i really like the concept.

the DES is to be removed from the TTX and a special TCS will be added to work on : more gradial working form lean to upright and the setting of tire size and brand.. but we're still working on that one..

it will be pirelli for instant reference and stability of knowledge

the beast as it is will be hard enough to ride properly not to go changing tirestypes every fortnight :) :) :D

Higher Clip-ons? What brand are these clip-ons? How much higher are they compared to the stock ones? Same width?

Fantastic project - Forks and Mag wheels , sure, but 16.5"?
With WSBKs move to 17" along with stock/supersport and national Superbike classes around the world on or going to 17" rims, you may end up limiting yourself for choice in the future..

Higher Clip-Ons? for comfort? on a race bike?

Wish you luck and looking forward to seeing the fished article.

Aren't those FRG900 gas charged forks for the 1199? I have a set on my other race bike with custom triples.

I believe the FGR900's are the older ones in 2009, then it was the FGR000 for 2010, FGR100's were 2011 models, then FGR200 for 2012 and now new FGR300 for 2013. Pretty much all of the Ohlins superbike forks are "generic" 52mm top, 58mm lower forks for all superbike racing applications, so they're interchangeable..

from what i learned , the outer tubes tend to differ from ultrastif ( 08) to those with more flex ( 2011 - FGR100) .. the internals haven't changed apparently ...

grtz
