I looked online at Ducati Omaha (the bestest dealer ever) and the parts required are about $100.00US PN# 75610361AA, 2 required per bike, 1-upper and 1-lower. Way cheaper than building new triples. Should make the bike finish the corners better.

899 Panigale Rake angle: 24°

1199 Panigale (all versions) Rake angle: 24,5°

So, the steering bushing kit supplied with the 1199 Panigale R MY14 are the same already installed SBK899, and permits the angle reducing to 24°

Please be aware that in each 1199R crate are the components in the attached picture that permit changing the steering angle on this machine. This kit is integral part of all 1199 R MY14 and permits our Ducati Corse department to use these for homologation for the WSBK/SSTK “PRODUCT UP-GRADE”.

The steering bushing kit supplied are made with the same steering bushings already installed SBK899, and changes the steering head angle to 23.5° from the as-shipped 24.5. This kit is track use only. These parts were not delivered with the 2013 1199R.

Thank you,

One correction: This was amended to 24°, it changes it from 24.5° to 24°.

anyone have some pics? very interested to see if i can fit these in the robby moto triples i just got

Lovely - thanks for sharing! Had wondered in the 899 parts interchangeability thread about this very thing.

Well I guess that means I need to go and buy my 2014ABS a Big Brother...... I'm sold now I just have to sell it to wifey.......wish me luck. :-0

Thanks for posting this. So by relaxing steering rake a half degree, you'll get what besides slightly slower steering? I know the OP said it's supposed to help the bike finish corners but that seems counterintuitive. The 899 has a shorter swing arm also compared to the 1199. Don't we need to know the entire setup numbers to replicate the "pro" setting? Jarel, do you have forks height above triple clamps, rear ride height, etc. to complete a base setting with these parts?

It's half degree steeper rake, not more relaxed. Stock is 24.5 degrees and this changes it to 24 degrees. So quicker steering and slightly less trail. We have the Superstock numbers from Ohlins:

Front Height - 196mm from bottom of lower triple to bottom edge of outer fork tube (Ohlins OEM S-Model forks)

Rear Height - 217mm using Ducati Corse right height tool or 306mm eye-to-eye lenght on shock.

Linkage: Flat setting

Swingarm length: 540mm

Considering it comes for the 2014 R model I'm surprised that Ohlins would have number worked out for an S model with no swing arm adjustment.

Also I thought that stock the fork height was like 210mm or so. 196 seem like quite a drop. Just wondering what the response and corner stability will be like. Also I figure with less trail the front to be prone to tucking in.

Thoughts?

Sorry, should have specified those Ohlins numbers are from 2012 World Superstock. Those are the only numbers I've ever received. Honestly, who of us are pushing our bikes the level of a World Superstock racer anyway, so it's all relative, just gives a starting point if you have nothing else to go off of.

So why the 2015 1299 Panigale has the same reduction in rake across the board?

Probably part number consolidation to make it easier for production more than anything, as well as the marketing benefit of having the production bikes match the race bike. I think the reduction in swingarm pivot height by 4mm will have a much greater impact than the 1/2 degree rake change will.

Is it possible to fit the R swingarm pivot height kit to a S ? Price ?

So,
How easy/hard is it to remove the old frame inserts ?
Reason I'm asking is because I have just bought the 24 degree kit today and the mechanic at dealers said that I will have to heat up the frame and inserts to get them REALLY hot to remove it, which to be honest, scares he crap out of me.:eek:

Fitting the new kit, he said to leave it in the fridge overnight, then fit next day.:D
