Hello everyone,

I bought a 2014 899 Panigale about a month ago and cant seem to figure out why the bike will not start in gear with the clutch pulled in.

When I bought it the clutch switch was hanging and not attached to the clutch lever perch. However I have popped it back in and still it is not starting in gear with the clutch pulled in. I can verify that the clutch lever tab IS pushing the button on the clutch switch (it is making the clicking noise).

Any ideas on what to do next?

Thank you!

I found it. To anyone this may happen to. The clutch switch cable is right below the trim panel under the left handlebar (made of black plastic). You must remove the trim panel for the ignition slot first (and then simply remove the small black trim with you hands).

The problem was that one of the two bullet connectors was disconnected. It seems that the wires are too short, and turning the wheel seems to disconnect them.

The solution I performed was to add in a little extra wire in the middle with some bullet connectors. This way I do not have to cut the factory wires and If for some reason I wanted to remove the extension, I could.

Thanks, belatedly Tom. I may have this issue with my 1299, I don't usually start it in gear, but like to be able to if needed. Dave
