Just took delivery yesterday. After riding a 2013, I can tell you Ducati fixed a lot of bugs in the bike. It definitely feels as though it runs stronger and has less motor hiccups and very linear. So impressed with the bike. Put the first 100 miles last night. What a machine. I will be making a review following the next few days.

Congrats on your new bike..
Glad Ducati fixed the motor performance..
Please let us know more about your experiences on gear shift, handling and mid range delivery.
Celebrations !!!

Congrats bro.. I am picking up my R next Wednesday..

Did you install any accessories? I have asked the dealership to put a lot of DP stuff so far like the windscreen, race levers, rearsets, tank protector, comfort seat (both rider and passenger), fender eliminator and all the carbon.

Am also buying a new set of gear as well to match the bike...

Congrats can you post any proof its a 2014? Registration title or something.... It's odd most dealers don't know if it's gonna even stay the same let alone someone has a 14 model already

Shy of posting my Vin, which im not interested on doing there is no real way for me to prove it. Once I receive my title id be happy to cover my personal info and scan it to show you its a 2014 model year. Trust me when I say, I didn't drop 30k on a bike to find out its a 13.

I have not had the dealer install anything, the labor time they quoted along with the labor hourly rate I think is absolutely ridiculous, id much rather spend the time at home to put on my parts, where I can take my time and make sure its all perfect. If the dealer was more reasonable, especially on a purchase of this caliber I would have had them put the Termi on, but they want around $1000 dollars to install, I have never heard of something so stupid.

The VIN can tell ya its a 2014 MY.. the Pani's VINs are like

Z D M 1 4 B P W (check digit) (model year code) B (random 6 digit seq no)

For the model year code it should have a letter now.. A - 2010, B - 2011, C - 2012, D - 2013, E - 2014

My VIN has an E and my dealer confirmed it is a 2014 so with a bit of Googling around I found the logic on how to get it from the VIN so I knew my dealer was correct.

They want to charge you to fit the pipe??? The R comes with the pipe..uninstalled I know...but shouldn't install be included??

What exactly did they fix on the 2014 model of the exact same bike exactly?

Congrats on the R!

congrats on the new R! it's nice to now know that the '14 model isn't seeing any real change (other than the fine tuning mentioned in the op).

Some dealers quote 3.5 hours some quote 10-11 hours for the full termi install. I don't know if it's based on technician incompetence or some dealers are ....... thieves but I know the majority will install it for free if you paid msrp plus freight and set up.... You needed to negotiate prior to purchase and "if you got it like that" then this post is not for you... BUT as per DNA its to the dealer discretion if they wanna install it free or charge you.

Looks like your dealer is ripping you off big time.. I had to bear $495 in freight fees and $250 labor to fit the full Termi exhaust, all the accessories as well as all the bike prep work as well.. moreover I got 10% discount on all the accessories and the dealership took that off the bike MSRP as they cant show discounted accessories on their sales invoice..

Hope you get that Termi full system installed.. the R will sound half assed without it on..

I would walk away if my dealer wanted $1000 to install these.... I think the bold type says it all.....

I agree.. they are really ripping him off like crazy.. feel bad for the bloke.. got a really nice bike but he doesnt even get to put stuff that comes with the bike in a separate crate as part of the prep work.. so damn stupid.

Ducati Minneapolis are amazing that way.. they gave me a complete breakdown of the costs so I clearly know where each penny goes and they explained to me very clearly that freight and labor for prep is a nominal charge eventhough its a long effort to put the exhaust system on.. I know my bike is in good hands

Folks,

Please note that the OP is in California, USA. All the dealers here in California charge MAX prices for everything, so go easy on the OP. It is very common for the dealers in the bay area to charge full MSRP no discounts, etc. Back in July 2012 when I got my Tricolore I was charged full list prices for everything. Many of the accessories for the Panigale I had to pre-order and pay full MSRP up front. It is only with time that folks get to enjoy discounts, etc .. so stop ....... pissing on the OP for paying what he did.

Early adopters always pay the max prices and even more so in California.

For folks in California it is always best to buy all accessories, etc out of state.

I dont think anyone is pissing on the OP ...More the fact the dealer wants his cake and eat it... No??? If you are charging freight and set up and are selling an R then as per Ducatis website it comes with the Termis as standard...so fit the things with no further charge!!

This may be normal in California...doesn't make it right though...

Damn.. living in Cali is expensive as it is so no wonder they gotta charge like crazy for labor and parts with no compromises..
