2014 Panigale R Arrived & Delivered!!

Don't forget guys, the R is a homologation model for WSBK. Ducati needs to check the box, showing they built the minimum number of models required within the specified time-frame. They can claim whatever model year they want on it as long as it meets the above criteria.

I speculate the '14 is virtually identical hardware, with newer revs of parts that had issues, and stuff R&D deemed production ready after the '13 roll-out, such as new software revs, etc. So think '13 with refinements solving known issues and issues that popped up once they started getting customer/dealer feedback.

Regarding dealer setup with the R, I can only offer my personal experience with Ducati Santa Barbara. When the bike arrived I was asked how I wanted it configured, for track or street. Street being- standard windscreen, mirrors mounted, and cat equipped exhaust. Track outfitted being- large windscreen, mirror block-offs, full Termis, and cowling extensions. They didn't care how I wanted it other than not riding off with it if it was not street legal which makes sense for them. I was planning on transporting it anyway. All the above items were all just part of dealer setup for a model that comes with optional equipment and didn't command any additional costs other than the cost of admission (additional expense over S) for buying the R.

Stw says stupid crap all the time. And now that he's a moderator if he doesn't agree with your post he'll just change it...

Tom

Trauma was making a joke to stw about a FACT and an OPINION that he stated:rolleyes: The only "stupid crap" here appears to be your post.

I brought one in Dubai last month done 1000 k before they would consider fitting the termigoni and they charged me the labour !! who gives a .... the bike is amazing and worth every penny ill post the vin if anyone wants too have it?

Just took delivery yesterday. After riding a 2013, I can tell you Ducati fixed a lot of bugs in the bike. It definitely feels as though it runs stronger and has less motor hiccups and very linear. So impressed with the bike. Put the first 100 miles last night. What a machine. I will be making a review following the next few days.

Congrats mate!

I'm receiving my new 2014 1199R next week as well. Got an email from my dealer on Friday saying they have confirmed its arriving in Auckland on Monday.

They need to do the paint protection etc. so Ill collect next weekend. Told its definitely 2014 Any others here wanting to dispute the 2014 model can phone Bayride Motorcycles in Tauranga, NZ. Buying the bike from them

Dude, that hazard light symbol looks cool, Can it be retrofit into previous years or would it require a computer or dash change?

While I agree that $1000 on top of the purchase price seems rather excessive, I am in the middle of installing a full system on my Tricolore. Take my word for it, the job is very substantial. You basically end up disassembling a large part of the motorcycle to accomplish the task. I have about 6 to 8 hours so far into it, and I am at the installing the headers point. I figure another 3 to 4 hours to finish it up. Lots of pictures, and lots of zip lock baggies and labeling to keep it all straight. O2 sensors are removed with the full system, so the ECU panel has to be loosened and messed with to get to the connectors, the radiators have to come completely off, the rear subframe has to be removed along with all that entails, and on and on. Be aware if you decide to do this that it is not the equivalent of changing your oil or air filter - this is a BIG project. Looking forward to seeing how it runs with the MWR HE air filter, TuneBoy, 14T counter shaft sprocket, and full Termi. More power - the eternal mantra.

+1 on the difficulty on the install.

Fitting the full Termis is a time staking job. Normally it can't be done in 90 minutes like somebody posted earlier. Pretty much the whole bike needs to be dismantled. I'm sure it can be done in a speed competition(?) but not sure if you want your bike done that way.

It's the dealer's criteria to charge or not to charge for the job, but I don't consider it out of line for some to charge for it. $1000 seems a bit excessive considering the OP bought the bike at the same dealership. Maybe a discounted price of $200~$300 is a fair price?

My dealer did it for free and it took them about half a day. Their work bay is set up to repair one bike at a time so they weren't working on the bike when they had spare time. These are trained Ducati mechanics in Italy with lots of experience with motorcycles in general.

This is a picture taken back in April(I think). They installed about 5 full Termis so far... two with me.

My question is, how many "R" owners got their Termi's installed for free? Either at Delivery or First Service. I paid around $800 for first service plus Termi install.

My dealer installed the Termis as well as the accessories that they were able to put on up front as part of the bike prep and charged me $250 for labor..

There are still some stuff yet to install and I will not be charged anything for those as they were asked up front but in the end it may matter little as I may end up trading in the Pani for the special one (depending on what stuff that has)

I was offered to have the full Termis installed for $200. I opted to do it myself. With the $200 savings I bought an MWR Race filter and a 3M clearbra. The install wasn't easy, but it was nice to do it myself. I could do everything myself except align the cans. I needed an extra hand on that part to tighten bolts. I did not have to remove the radiators or rear subframe.

I ordered my 1199r from a dealer in Toronto. He advised me that the bike was coming from Ducati in California. (apparently its the north American hub?)

He also mentioned it was a 2014 sold as a 2013...

Received an email that the bike arrived at the dealer last week and I was provided the VIN for insurance.

My insurance company tells me it's a 2013 vin. From what OP and others are saying they received 2014's.. I'm confused.

As for the Termis dealer split the cost with me at 250$ for install.

Bugger mate, I'm in exactly the same boat now. After reading this thread a bit more I went and ran the VIN I was provided with.

Ducati Australia and my local NZ dealer assured me it is a 2014 model. But when checking the VIN through NZ imports services it came up as a 2013 model so I'm confused as well.

I found this out last night, so sent an email to my dealer. I'll catch up with him first thing tomorrow. But when I orders I had to wait 9 weeks, because I was told the 2013 bikes were not available and I would get a 2014 one.

I do trust this dealer a lot and have know the owner for many years. The bike arrives in New Zealand tomorrow then I'm suppose to collect it on the 12th (they are located in another city)

Ill post here after having a catch up with him tomorrow.
