Errrrrrrrrr !!!!!

That is Marine talk for "motivation" and agreement - ERR! or perhaps "OOHRAH!" as ingrained within us from the first night of the "Yellow Footprints" so I pass this internal motivation onto you and your beautiful new Ducati my friend!

Feed it good quality aftermarket bits and pieces and wring it out like the unreal superbike that it is buddy! One word of wisdom would be to get a Canyon Dancer for future trips in the bed of your truck! That coupled with quality cloth tie downs which are NOT the ratcheted kind. The bike wont move once tied down, though a Baxley Chock is a great piece of gear too!

Canyon Dancer Inc.

BAXLEY  TRAILER  COMPANY  motorcyle trailer chock

Sincere congratulations my friend! Nothing beats the feeling of knowing that new bike in your garage is YOURS and will love you back with proper care and love. Stay safe out there! :D

.... What is Ducati doing releasing the 2014 1199R five months after the release of the 2013 1199R? I would be ripped if I purchased the 2013...
Interesting point... Didn't someone just buy a '13R for $30K OTD?
I wonder if this makes any difference though, since the "upgrade" seems to be to the vin number only.
And for those salivating over R, are there deals to be had on "outdated" '13Rs out there now?

I wonder if the Base and the S arriving to dealers now are also '14?

The "Thanks" button has never worked for me since I joined this site, but Gunny is dead-on here. A Canyon Dancer with quality tiedowns and a Baxley chock secure your bike like nothing aside from burying it in concrete.

Wow a lot going on in this thread rather quickly. Ill keep my comments brief as ive already read 4-5 renditions of my original post.

First off I did not get any deal worth raving about on this bike. So nothing to discuss here.

I have thus far put 240 miles on the bike, many seem to think you cant possibly tell the difference between the two model years without the termi installed and the up-map, im sorry to tell you that its the same as comparing it to a 13 without the termi and the upmap.

Thus far I can tell you that the bikes seem essentially identical, I find this years tune to be more refined with a slightly smoother power band, better idle, and for sure much quicker starting. Furthermore I also find the TFT display to be faster and more responsive with less delay. Other then that I dont see much different, I think however the few things I noticed are significant enough to satisfy my waiting. That being said if you have a 13 you have a ridiculously good bike and im not saying anything bad about them.

After my break in service coming up more then likely next week sometime I will be making a video review on my youtube channel @ fluxx43. Feel free to follow me there I already have 2 reviews that seem to be getting good interest.

Let me know if you guys may have any questions.

Welcome to Audi ... With their cars they usually have overlap... They've seem to have adapted some of the same model in producing bikes. All financing is handled through VW credit now instead of freedom road financial The R is now what Audi considers the S line for their cars... It's diluted and basically an all decked out S.. No number plates etc...

As far as performance I'm sure it's a huge difference...

Think 335i posers vs M3's

That being said, I still want one. I'll probably be selling my stupid S...

congrats ! :) ... anything above 4 hours is rip off.... had my bike fully dismantled in 75 minutes and termi installed in 90 ...

Well i'll give my 0.02 cents to all that was posted. I bought an "R", 2013 july 30th for $28k flat (plus tax...NYS 8.125%)

I got my Termi and the other after market do-dads that come with the bike installed for free as it is part of dealer prep. So write to DNA and tell them your dealer is run by dicks.

Dealers when it comes to special editions get allocations base on how many bikes they sell, so when a dealer gets several Rs in a row DNA assumes they're a good dealership...which isn't always the case.

My dealer has helped me ship bikes overseas and has stayed on the phone with me while i go thru diagnosing and fixing my bike,....Nick at Rockwell Cycles i feel is unusual when it comes to dealer support.....above and beyond.

I would seriously call or write DNA and tell them about the seemingly inconsistent reports about they're brand and support and site some forum examples. Believe me these things really help the Ducati community as a whole as DNA will go around and "remove" dealerships, and/or "help them" be better spokesmen for Ducati.

Two points:

don't get me wrong....I don't believe in being adversarial, you should go into your dealer and explain to them that you would like to Praise them to all that ask or will listen, but that it is hard for you in the present situation while others are getting good deals from good dealers.

Don't forget, John Adam's "buyer beware" if i can sell you the brooklyn bridge and your willing to pay me for it well then its your fault. You must take responsibility for letting people rip you off.

Good Luck.

Congrats on the R I was deciding on waiting for one but got an awesome deal on '12 S so took it and it was my first Duc:)

I have not had the dealer install anything, the labor time they quoted along with the labor hourly rate I think is absolutely ridiculous, id much rather spend the time at home to put on my parts, where I can take my time and make sure its all perfect. If the dealer was more reasonable, especially on a purchase of this caliber I would have had them put the Termi on, but they want around $1000 dollars to install, I have never heard of something so stupid.

My dealer had it installed on the bike when I took delivery! No charge!

Well that just proves I have a good dealer. I bought the bike at full price, delivered May 3 2012; but, the dealer gave me $500 off MSRP for the full termi system and did not charge forthe install. It was the first pipe they put on an 1199 and it took o er 8 hours.

Like this :)

Thx for that.. I went today to sign my registration paperwork to got my 21 day permit and they gave me the manual and spare key etc.. I can confirm that page 41 and 199 of the 2014 version manual refer to the hazard lights. However the details on the UP-MAP functions have been removed from the 2014 version manual (since that's only a dealer/mechanic job anyways they prob left it out)

While I agree that $1000 on top of the purchase price seems rather excessive, I am in the middle of installing a full system on my Tricolore. Take my word for it, the job is very substantial. You basically end up disassembling a large part of the motorcycle to accomplish the task. I have about 6 to 8 hours so far into it, and I am at the installing the headers point. I figure another 3 to 4 hours to finish it up. Lots of pictures, and lots of zip lock baggies and labeling to keep it all straight. O2 sensors are removed with the full system, so the ECU panel has to be loosened and messed with to get to the connectors, the radiators have to come completely off, the rear subframe has to be removed along with all that entails, and on and on. Be aware if you decide to do this that it is not the equivalent of changing your oil or air filter - this is a BIG project. Looking forward to seeing how it runs with the MWR HE air filter, TuneBoy, 14T counter shaft sprocket, and full Termi. More power - the eternal mantra.
