Damn.. living in Cali is expensive as it is so no wonder they gotta charge like crazy for labor and parts with no compromises..

The expense of living in California is outrageous on just about any subject you can name. Heck, my water bill sometimes cracks $250 a month in the Summer (high desert locale, 1/2 acre). Just moving out of this state will provide a 15% pay raise. But, you gotta pay to play!

. . . and congratulations on your new cycle. Beautiful! I test rode a base Panigale and that was incredible. The R is worth it if you can swing it. Good luck and ride safe!

We can play in other states too....

I dont think anyone is pissing on the OP ...More the fact the dealer wants his cake and eat it... No??? If you are charging freight and set up and are selling an R then as per Ducatis website it comes with the Termis as standard...so fit the things with no further charge!!

This may be normal in California...doesn't make it right though...

Interesting point so idk if its acceptable to be paying up a lot in California.. this seems to be a gray area and can be debated on and on..

My view is that I can understand them charging labor for accessory fittings for the time spent (if charged fairly and they r honest up front about it), but for the full Termi system that comes with the Pani R bike albeit in a separate crate, installing that is surely part of setup. I can't see myself paying extra on labor cost to have that installed.. no way. I understand it takes time but there needs to be some rationale..

LOL ;)

It can happen but hey.. atleast till then I will enjoy while I can.. I can recover insurance money from GEICO through their winter policy when I can't use the bike.. a decent tradeoff for me

I can't imagine trading in for 1 MY difference. Any bugs worked out will be included in software/mapping updates. Hardware is all the same. To each his own.

Nice bike!

And as for California.... I'm in SF and the dealer couldn't even put my exhaust on if I paid (which I offered) said something about it being illegal because they aren't street legal. I buy all my aftermarket parts through the dealer because with some venders they give me a discount.

P.S. Costs me $400/month in power costs at my house, I'm in desperate need of solar panels.

I'm beyond sick of people "hiding" their vin. I mean SERIOUSLY? What the .... are we going to do with your PUBLICLY AVAILABLE/SEARCHABLE VIN?

Good lord! If you're paranoid someone is going to track you down and rob you, I'd cease and desist any and all internet, cellular phone, and car use in all.

From what I understand there is not a single difference between a 2013 and a 2014 (if you truly have a bike titled/reg'd as a 2014).

Agreed - I do not think it is right that a dealer charges extra to fit a slip-on or full Termi that comes with the bike and it should be included in the setup. In fact I believe it is criminal . However, this is *California* and folks here have the largest Ducati market and get the least breaks .

As one California, Bay Area poster stated, he can't even get the dealer to fit his full termi on for any $$$ ... Oh, BTW, the poster can PM me and I will hook you up with a dealer that will fit your full Termi

ya, i never really understand why people hide their license plate when they post pics on forums. if i or anyone saw you on the road, we'd be able to see your license plate anyways. what's the deal?

That is due to a new exhaust system law in California that went into effect with all 2013+ model bikes and dealers can be held accountable if a person was to get pulled over and cited for aftermarket exhausts and the trail led back to the dealer who installed it. Slim chance of actually happening that way but it is a big enough consequence where most dealers refuse to take this chance. I too asked about this with a local dealer (not where I got my bike from) and this is what they told me. California sucks when it comes to all motorsports affiliated things. On the flipside, it is one of the best states to live in if you are into motorsports and more importantly the tuning aspect of it and specialty shops. We have the luxury of a wide variety of options/shops/dealers whereas some states have to go out of state for their closest option.

Welcome to the club. What is Ducati doing releasing the 2014 1199R five months after the release of the 2013 1199R? I would be ripped if I purchased the 2013. Is Ducati going to release the 2015 in February?

Possibly due to cranks calling the cops and reporting falsities.

ya that is odd, now that you mention it. my local dealer told me they are getting two 1199R's in within the next few weeks, and i was thinking, "that's kinda late for a 2013 to be rolling in." he didn't say they were 2014's so i just assumed they'd be 2013 models.

I posted about this in Oct 2012 last year.

I noted that most dealers don't sell Termi's and I know of ZERO dealers in California who will sell or fit an AKRA. AKRA may be #1 but it is niche/non-existent/rare on a 1199 street bike in the Bay Area, i guess the same can be said about the weather in AKRA country of origin. Sorry, had a rough day - bit cranky.

I know of 1 dealer who will fit a Termi.
