2015 Panigale R Motor Blown?

I'm on my second pani R. First one was road and track mix and had about 6000 miles
on it when it was changed out. No noticeable oil consumption throughout ownership.

The second has been a dedicated track bike since the run in was completed (23 track days + 2 dyno days last year alone) and is now going into its third season. Have been doing the winter servicing etc and as normal, the oil was clean when dumped and there was nothing on the magnet. Airbox was bone dry as ever. Oil top up last season was less than 200ml outside of three full oil changes. Mileage is around 4.5k.

I guess that it could "let go" at any point, but up to now I don't see my engines being more fragile than any other bikes I have ran in the past.

Guys, it might be a silly question but what oil level are you running? None of the Panigales like it above the half way window point if being tracked and the R engines are better kept at the low point. I've had oil push through seals on both my old S and R and a few friends bikes because of this and they are perfectly fine once the level is dropped.

I'm having same issue..Dealership said to run oil level bottom of window. Clean airbox after each track day...
Not using oil or smoking at all...

it is not the oil level....its the rings/sleeves/piston - obviously topped up oil will blow out more for sure....but lower levels, if it blows out thru the airbox, is not the answer

If you're having the same issue (oil in airbox draining out thru the drain tube)...have your dealer call Ducati NA

Gotcha...I was just thinking since internally they are so close why the 1199SL hasn't had similar issues as the R??

i wouldn't know....Ducati must have a good idea though...i do not think they easily share the information...but in each case i had, they got right to the repair without a pause (except parts arrival, which wasn't too bad) - my dealership was also always in front of the logistics curve and made sure everything was communicated

the way the engine is treated, street versus track, does not seem to be related, as i've seen track only bikes (R & SL)with the same condition

by the way....i have been using a small catch bottle and check it often - (not a bad idea)

Now really leaking from track riding. Street tires too. I can't imagine racing on slicks. Blow out a quart. I'm going to take bike in after a track day as I just cleaned the airbox. Hopefully Ducati will handle as this is annoying...And potentially unsafe..

I dont have the pics right now, but on the last occurrence of "the leak" & drainage...my rear tire was coated well beyond anything you'd like to see - confirmed/solidified my thought of having a catch bottle - it was clearly a "you gotta be kidding me" moment

Another bike, I didn't witness, essentially dumped enough out to cause the rider to luckily just manage to keep things upright, but just barely so

If you have any leak/drainage, you really need to have the bike brought in for repair....cleaning the air box after each track day (as I saw 1 post refer to) or lowering your oil level to prevent it, is total nonsense

Surely that would be from the rocker cover

We're discussing the blow out thru the crankcase breather in to the air box in sufficient quantity to pool up in the back left rear side of the box to reach the drain that then drains down & under the bike....or blown back over the rear tire while riding:eek:
