That's why I said "kinda"... I understand the different purposes and agree with your statement but I was irritated when they released it for only $2k more over the Tri which was a better buy for he money in my opinion. I love my Tri and am not getting rid of it anytime soon but if I knew they were going to release the R the next year for only $2k more would have waited and purchased it instead.

If you want to talk irritating, how about moving S/base to 1299, while leaving the R at 1199, but giving it proper R treatment for 2015.

- 1199 Tri will always be unique.... but what will a pre-2015 R be

I hear ya. But if that irked you, how mad would you be if you had a '14 R and Ducati released the '15 S with all the same technology but more refined, new technology, more HP, better power band, and for about $10k less?

That's essentially what's happening here.
I've got an HP4 Comp and this kinda ..... never bothered me really. It's progress and I'm all for it.

I wonder what track guys are doing. After running with some really fast guys at Barber this weekend, getting the latest and greatest doesn't equal faster in that arena.

Where are you seeing the price? The sites I have looked at do not share the cost of the bike with all these optional features... all those goodies do not come standard on the base bike.

You know the story Leon, it's always been the Indian and not the arrow. I bet some of the fastest guys there were on 600's with no TC/ABS.

That said, if the latest electonics help me to ride safe and with more confidence, and therefore, faster, I do like that. Nice thing is you can turn if off when you're feeling frisky and then add it back in when the tires go off, you get tired, etc.

It sure seemed that way. All of the Apex racers/Truimph guys were on the 675Rs and they were MOVING........ There were a few guys on 1000s, but it seemed like the 600s were so freakin fast. Cant wait to get this 899 and see if I ride faster on it.

Yeah, that's much worse! Your correct again, it's just the nature of the motorcycle evolution.

That's why I made the analogy to the S. I've just heard reports of it being in the $15k ballpark.

Great point Jeff! I seen a motard guy smoke sport bikes on the track...it was impressive seeing him drift around the corners!

Its the nature of the beast to want to have the new shiney with all the latest gadgets. I'm not one to trade in and loose my ... to get it cause I love my Tri anyway. ...., I can't even come close to its potential so getting the next best thing really doesn't improve my skills.
